"The customer purchased the vehicle months prior to the repair and had it towed to my shop from another facility. The customer stated that the vehicle had been sitting for a period of years from the previous owner before he purchased it. He also explained that the vehicle had running problems with the fuel and gas tank and stated that he wanted the oil pump replaced. When we looked at the car, we found that it actually needed an oil change and an oil pressure switch. We also road tested the vehicle and noticed vibrations, which we explained to the customer and noted on the R/O. When the customer picked up the vehicle, he stated, "Will this correct my stalling problem?" However, the customer did not discuss a stalling issue during the original consultation. During the road test the vehicle did not stall. Therefore, we were not under the impression that the customer had an issue with the vehicle stalling. After the vehicle was picked up (that same day) the customer called back two weeks later complaining about the vehicle stalling. We explained that we do not have the needed software to address this issue for him, and recommended that he find someone who works on classic GM vehicles. Despite this, we still offered to look at the vehicle a second time, if this would satisfy the customer. Unfortunately, when the customer called back, we were already two weeks out in booked appointments. Therefore, we could not schedule him right away. Again, we respectfully explained that bringing the vehicle back to the shop would not benefit the customer. This is because we no longer have the software to diagnose older GM digital fuel injection systems. However, we assured him that someone who works on classic cars would have the correct software to help him. It is unfortunate that the customer feels this way."
