Archibald Heating & Air Conditioning has been providing top quality work for homeowners and Commercial Property owners in the Ulster and Dutchess County Area since 1938. Archibald Heating and Air conditioning was established in 1938 by my Grandparents William P. and Marvel Archibald. My Grandfather's vision of a strong contractor that can be "trusted" begins to take shape. He creates the Archibald Heating and Air Conditioning "Mission Statement". My Grandfather operated the company until his retirement in 1959 when my Father Wayne G. took over daily operations. I received ownership of the company in1989 with my Fathers retirement. The staff of Archibald Heating and Air Conditioning to this day strives to continue the vision of my Grandfather and Father. Never polluted by corporate buy-outs, driven soley by numbers or strictly profit oriented, we are truly driven by the commitment of a lasting and healthy relationship with you the client. We are currently training generation number four to receive the gift of daily operations inside one of the Hudson Valleys premier HVAC Contracting companies. If there was a 0 as a rating option, that is what I would give this company. They are unprofessional, rude, and expensive. Dewitt installed a ductless system at our house two years ago and we are still dealing with a unit that does not respond to the thermostat. We tried to get him to come back out and fix it but he has refused, after yelling at us. When we arrived at the house, the thermostat was left on top of the dresser with the wire coming down from the ceiling. After calling him to find out if he was finished, we had to pay again for him to come fix it. If you want headaches and to pay top dollar for them, then this is the company to select for any heating and air conditioning.

They showed up when they said they would show up, and stayed until the job was finished. They were polite and professional. I wish every home improvement contractor was like this! In my case, they installed a new hot water tank (not boiler), but after having so many contractors not call back, or take weeks to complete one project, it was a pleasure working with these guys!

DeWitt and his team did a very good job removing an old oil furnace, oil hot water heater, and oil tank and then installed a new electric Carrier central Air Conditioner and heat pump system, as well as an electric hot water heater and whole house water filter system. They used existing duct work, added a warm air return, and cleaned the old ducts. I was very meticulous with my questions and DeWitt promptly answered them. The install was done to my satisfaction and his technicians were extremely polite. DeWitt is extremely knowledgable and takes great pride in his work.

Archibald arrived and completed the install on time. However, boss left early with fever, his assistant did a mediocre job finishing. Further examination revealed additional sloppy workmanship. When I called to have them come back to tidy up, they became defensive and would not return my calls.

Devoted to their work, this outfit believes in doing their very best and their best is terrific. They did put on a bit of a hard sell, urging that I purchase a VERY expensive boiler system--but clearly Archibald & Co. believe in this product, insisting that it will save hugely on fuel costs in the future, so I went with it. Installation went smoothly. Archilbald's tech returned quickly when there were minor installation glitches to fix. Everything working great now. I'll return to comment a year from now when we know whether this system saves as hugely on fuel as it is supposed to do. Until then can't vouch for budget or value.

Very friendly, knowledgeable and professional salesperson. Price was right in comparison to other esitimates. Took time to explain the tax implications of the new, more efficient heating and AC equipment. Explained the available rebates from Central Hudson and from Carrier. Salesperson forgot, however, to mention to the service men that the humidifier we ordered had not arrived by the day they were installing the units. Salesperson admitted that he forgot to tell them. Media filter was not installed during the first installation visit.

We had a very positive experience with Archibald Heating & Airconditioning. From their initial contact they were professional and courteous. The salesman was very knowledgeable and made sure we understood exactly what was going to be done. He had a very pleasant and happy disposition. The project was completed in a timely manner and their employees were very nice and professional. Clean up was fabulous (don't find that with all contractors). I would highly recommend them for your project.
