Buyer Beware! Over 2 years of complete hassle! Failed to show up on multiple start dates with no call, didn't respond to calls unless payment was due, required cash only payments, asphalt was put down at end of day, instead of unloading/recycling old product and loading up with fresh, they added on top of garbage. Result was driveway with completely inconsistent material with large areas of noticeable difference. About 30 oak trees began to sprout through asphalt in spring. They burned them out and patched driveway twice, resulting in even worse appearance. Suffolk County Consumer Affairs agreed and found 10 contract violations. Pioneer refused to refund money. Salesman, Tom Napoli was rude and obnoxious. Owner Anthony DeRosa has never responded to my complaints.

They did my driveway. They took the old driveway out and replaced it. The problem was I signed the contract in August and they didn't come until November and I told them that I lived with a lot of oak trees so I have a lot of acorns. So the difference between August and November, had they come earlier there wouldn't have been a problem but since they waited they all sprouted and they did come back to try and repair it so I have a bunch of patches now. They had guys on the ground trying to pick them up one at time, and you couldn't blow them because the packing stuff they put down was so loose that when you blew acorns the packing stuff went with it. They chipped my stone they had just put in.

They were excellent. The workman were excellent also. Job well done!

The first phase was grade, compact, install the apron and curb with material I had on hand, install steel edging to lay out the driveway. They were paid one half down at this phase. They gave us no notice of the date the work would start, even though we asked for it in advance, so no one was home to supervise.
They were paid on arrival or they would not start, but i felt it was one half of the total and they had to be back to finish. The drive way and apron were laid out at 12' 6" wide and were suppose to be 13' based on the contract. The curb is crooked and looks terrible. They did not level, grade, place any base material or compact the ground, so it is against mess far from ready to pave. They left all the debris from the project in the driveway, but took all my unused block. Remember this was my material on site not something they brought or paid for. They cut roots to install the edge and left them dangerously sticking up. The driveway is a trip hazard due to the steel edge, apron and curb, all the digging that they did and never back filled, and of course the giant pile of debris. 
I have been calling the salesman, the office and sending emails since 5/29. No one has responded and no resolution is in site. When you speak to them they say no one is in the office and offer to pas the message on to the right person. WE did get the salesman on the phone on 6/1, he promised he would be over the same day to look at it and has not been buy or called.
We are now looking into a price to rectify the work improperly done and considering legal action.

Slow, communications were a problem, left quite a mess on lawn and beds. Paving job is very good.

A complete disaster! My house was worse after they finished. They put lines on my bricks and broke over 100 bricks on the perimeter of my driveway with their machines. The driveway is not smooth and has lines and different shades. Their salesman Tommy promises to fix everything and never does. The biggest waste of money!

This is a revised report filed after Angie's List worked with us to resolve some issues with the installation. Pioneer replaced the stones on our deck steps that we felt did not meet our original specifications. They did an excellent job that enhanced the look of the original work. They also installed a drain that solved our water pooling problem. This had not been done the first time. In addition they are installing a top layer of decorative stone to the stone wall surrounding the deck. We originally had not included that in our contract to reduce the cost. When the Pioneer owner came to evaluate the work that needed to be redone, he had the top border installed because he told us it would look much better. Said he didn't like the look of the wall, even though it was our decision not to install the border. Since we didn't originally order it, we offered to pay the extra cost of installing it. He refused payment, saying that it was on the company and that he was just happy we were satisfied with the work they did. So the outcome is that we are very pleased with the final job. We had used Pioneer previously to install our driveway and replace our stone pool deck. Those jobs were excellent. The backyard deck replacement was the only time we had concerns about the work. Now that the company corrected the problems, we are completely satisfied. It bears noting that the owner himself came to inspect the job and personally supervised the adjustments. He went beyond our expectations by not accepting payment for the decorative top border.

I would not use this company nor would I recommend this company again. Salesman promised a high quality job. I believe it was a rushed job and just so so quality. Details such as edges were not professional performed and there are signs of pavement sinking in spots.

The whole experience was a nightmare. I have a good mind to take them to small claims court. All they had to do was return calls, be honest and not lie. I was willing to split the cost with them to redue the driveway. I guess the little guy doesn't count in these tough days.

The ripping up of the driveway and installing of the border and apron was done in a timely fashion. They said that they would be back to do the paving on another day and would call me.
It was several weeks later and I still not heard from them so I called because now our cars had been out on the street for many weeks. We were not able to pull them into the driveway because there was a huge gap between the apron and the rest of the driveway. We would have bottomed out our cars. When I called the office, they seemed surprised that the gap had not been filled in so that we could have used the driveway. They did come within a few days to pave the driveway.

.Aside from the few snags, we were satisfied with their work and would use them again.

We were very pleased with him, and he was very helpful giving us information on what happened. He was very good. He was prompt. He came and finished the job. In fact, they had to do half of the little stuff that previous company left. The price was right, and it was not over-priced. We had a good experience with them as compared to another one.

I had told the 3 companies I called that I wanted to be there for the estimate to go over what needed to be done. Pioneer was the only one who showed up at the appointed time so I could review the problem with them in person. The other 2 showed up at their convenience and left estimates in my mail box

. There were several delays which were not their fault due to the excessive rain we had. When the weather cleared the workers came on schedule, were courteous and did a good job.

It was a positive experience. They were very good. I appreciated their craftsmanship and their willingness to speak with me about things. I would go home at lunchtime every day and check to see what was going on. If something on the plans didn't seem to look right they talked to me about it. They worked like craftsmen. Their price was about average.

I had brick work done and the driveway paved in asphalt. The brick work which was a patio and walkway were done well. However after one year a few bricks broke and the driveyway started to show some dips and small holes. Even had two weeds growing through. Called to have them repair it and they showed up when nobody was home. The asphalt was not done properly. some of the repairs were done but since nobody was home we could not shoe them everything that needed to done.

Today, May 6,2011, Pioneer Paving began at 7:15 a.m (as promised, we were first on their list) and began the job. It took the workers approximately 3 hours (we have a long drive way and walkway around the garage to the patio). The job they is flawless. Our drive looks wonderful as does the walkway. They were extremely neat and courteous. We would recommend them very highly.

PIONEER PAVING HAD VERY COMPETITIVE PRICES. THEY WERE EASY TO DO BUSINESS WITH AND DID GOOD QUALITY WORK. THE ONLY THING THAT I DID NOT LIKE WAS THAT IT TOOK THEM LONGER THAN EXPECTED.

THE WORKERS WERE GOOD AND THE JOB CAME OUT WELL. IT WAS DIFFICULT DEALING WITH THE OFFICE SCHEDULING THE START OF THE JOB. THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO GIVE A TIME WHEN THE WORKMEN WOULD RETURN TO FINISH.

WE THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE RELIABLE AND RESPONSIBLE. THEIR WORK WAS GOOD. NO MESS WAS LEFT BEHIND THEM. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHER PEOPLE.

PIONEER WAS VERY RELIABLE AND GOT THE DRIVEWAY FINISHED IN THE TIME THAT THEY HAD PROMISED. THEY DID A GREAT JOB AND I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN. MY NEW DRIVEWAY IS SO MUCH NICER THAN THE OLD ONE.
