We were given an estimate of $550 total which meant we were to supply both paint and primer. Not a problem to us. We scheduled the start date and time.
Contractor did not show up or phone. We called and we were told that because we were the first job of the year they did not have the ladders or staff yet. Finally showed up.
Guys were extremely friendly but were often found sitting around chatting in the back yard. They made a horrible mess of paint scraping all over and did not clean up. They dripped the blue trim paint down the beige siding and didn't clean it off AND completely missed the front left corner of the house trim.
We informed the head guy of the missed corner and said he would be back to fix it. Never did come back nor did we hear from them again.
They also tried to charge us over and above the total estimate. 
I will not use them or recommend them.

THE WHOLE STORY: 7/10/08--Owner visits my home, provides an estimate, we arrange a date for the company to paint my home. I am told that I must submit a deposit the week prior to the service being done. 9/2/08- The week before the painting was to begin, I had not heard from the company and called to arrange for pickup of the deposit. I did not receive a return call for several days. When I finally did hear from Mark (9/5/08), he called citing a service date different from the one we'd originally agreed upon. He said he could change the date and came to my home to collect the deposit. 9/8/08- The day of painting! No one from Hoxie's shows up. No one answers/returns my calls. 9/9/08- No answers, no return calls. 9/10/08- I receive a message from someone identifying himself as the "crew foreman" who says he will visit my home to wash it. He does not arrive. 9/11/08- I call the foreman who informs me that he was unable to find my home but has since gotten directions and will come that day. I ask him to have Mark Hoxie call me. Mark calls, hears my complaints, and offers to come to my house that day to refund my money. Since then, he has not returned my money, never answers the phone when I call (I believe he has blocked my home and cell phone numbers), and does not return calls from the messages I have left. PLEASE NOTE: I called News Channel 9 with this complaint (9/17/08). Their representative called the company and apparently got a prompt response. Mark then called me and said he'd mailed a check to me earlier in the day. I have not received the check and he has returned to not answering my calls or calling me back.

They had a large crew and I was a little surprised to see no college kids. They all paced themselves, but because there were six men on the job, they got done in about two and a half days. I thought it would take longer than they said because they were prepping so long, but the painting part of the paint job only took about half a day. I was pleased with the amount of attention they paid to detail. I bought them pizza one day and they were great guys to chat with on lunch. If I had to dig for a negative, I think one of their vans was a little beat up, but I don't see why that would bother anyone. I would strongly recommend them to anyone. They came as a recommendation to us, we've seen their work all over town and the guy who came to do the estimate was very knowledgeable. He seemed younger to me at first, but I think he was the owners son. Their price was the middle one out of three, but the detail in the estimate went much further than the other two contractors.
