A-1 STATE GENERAL BUILDING

The whole process has been terrible. We have bought a home in January, its June and we still cannot live in our home. The way it works is, we have a total renovation loan with the bank and they have to come out to inspect, we sign off on the work and then the bank will disperse the funds to the company. He told us it would take two months for all the work to be done. And its the end of June and it still is not. Some of the things he has not done/ issues with the project: He says he is not finishing the basement or cleaning up the asbestos in it. There was another mold issue the the front that he just tried to cover up. The guys do very sloppy work. They re-wired the house and left the old wiring in the house, in the floor. There are gaps in the wood floors. They did not sand the walls properly before painting. In the kitchen, we had to hire an external cabinet company because they told us they could not be restored. He told us it would cost about $6,000.00 to replace them, I did some research and found out they were trying to rip us off. I contacted the bank and they told us this contractor had to sign off on using another company for the cabinet work, he refused to do this after he instead the other company needed to add him to their insurance. Its just been one thing after another. In May, he did not do any work for about a month. He stopped answering our phone calls and emails. He never even gave us a work plan on what was being done on the home. He then says he is stopping work for non-payment. So far, the bank has given him $50,000.00 for the first draw. He said he was not going to start up work again until the second draw. He knows the process. There was a delay with the payment because he was not providing proper documents to the bank come to find out. Last Friday, we sent him a termination letter. We are just waiting on an inspection to be done by the bank before we can hire another contractor. Beware of this company
