They came to check the problem, bought the LED replacement lamps for me, and then came back to install the new lamps. I was very pleased by their work and professionalism.

To my surprise because I know their reputation is good and we have always had a good experience with them when he contacted me sometime in March he said he had an hour to come by and work on my job. When I reminded him that it would take more than that because I had several major problems. He said were too busy for that kind of work right now and hung up and I never heard from them again despite calling them back to ask when they were going to come.

The line was installed, he even put a sleeve over the line that went from the ceiling to the dryer to protect it.  When he was done he asked for a broom and dustpan to clean up after himself.  Then he checked the outlets in our kitchen (with an older kitchen there are too many appliances that when run at the same time trips the breaker.)  Unfortunately the work would involve cutting the metal backsplash that is in place. So for now I will make toast in the dining room.  If we do decide to get the work done Pleasant Valley will be our first call.

I left a message two days ago here on Angie's list for this company asking them for an estimate. They never got back to me.

The lights went out in our basement a couple of times in a span of about one week, tripping the circuit in the electrical panel.  On two occasions, we saw sparks coming from the box.  We became alarmed and called Pleasant Valley Electric based on the reviews here on Angie's List. Their main number gave us a number to call in case of electrical emergency.  It was a holiday weekend, but John picked up the phone right away and was very helpful to us.  He asked a few questions, and was able to determine that it was not an emergency.  He instructed us to just keep the basement circuits off, and that the office will call first thing on Monday morning.  They did just that, and somebody came out to fix the problem the next day. The fellow that came was very professional, courteous and prompt (sorry I forgot his name).  We are very happy with the work they did, and will be calling them again for our future electrical needs.

We went with this company based on the reviews on Angie's List and we were extremely happy with them. Prior to that it was very difficult to get somebody to even come out and have an appointment with us. We like them very much and have used them about three times. We chose them because of their whole process, from soup to nuts. When I call to set an appointment they are very responsive and their people show up exactly when they say they are going to show up. They are nice and do really good work. I am very happy with the price.

Did it when they said they'd do it, for the cost they estimated, and did an excellent job.

This was an emergency call. The excavator who dug a trench for our new propane gas line failed to figure out first where the electrical lines were buried. As a result the lines from the house panel to the chicken coop were severed. Pleasant Valley showed up within two hours, were here for probably 5 and only charged me $275.00. They also waited patiently for payment from the company responsible for the whole error in the first place.

The first repair job was to upgrade our old service panel from fuses to circuit breakers. I was referred to Pleasant Valley by a builder
friend. After calling them up, they sent out an estimator who looked over the job, answered questions and described what needed to be done. I received a written estimate within a couple days and the work was scheduled for a week or so out. The electrician showed up as scheduled, completed the work quickly. He was friendly, professional and efficient. The job took a couple days to complete and we were never without power for more than a couple hours during the whole process. He also upgrade our water heater power feed to meet code, for a very small extra charge.
The second time I used them was to repair a ground issue NYSEG found in one of our barns. This was a much smaller job
~$250 for a couple hours work. The electrician who showed up was also friendly, professional and efficient. He had no problem with me tagging along to watch what he was doing.

Terrific. Couldn't be more pleased. This company also performed all the electrical work for a major addition to our house in 2001.

At first things went badly. A less than experienced younger journeyman electrician left us without A/C over a weekend (we had a housewarming that was too warm). We called on Monday morning an experienced person from the same company fixed that problem and did one other installation. He returned a few days later and did an excellent job. We learned that in this company it pays to specify the most experienced persons.

After the initial delay in responding to our contact (more than a week), everything went fairly quickly and smoothly. Starting from the time that the representative came out to make the estimate to the completion of the job, it took twelve days. Both the representative who made the estimate and the technician who performed the job were professional and efficient. When the job was completed, the technician took care to clean up the work area. The only thing we are not too certain about our experience is the price. The nice and even $400 price tag struck us as a little too "neat" to be just right. Neither the job proposal they submitted to us nor the final invoice gave us any breakdown on how they arrived at such a price. But since we have no prior experience with such work, and since PVE was the only company that returned our call and gave us a bid, we honestly don't know whether this is a fair price or whether we have been overcharged. We'd appreciate any feedback on this that Angie's List might offer us.
