Hardware & Home Improvement Stores, Door Service
They sent out subcontractors. A guy came and measured the three doors. Two of them were hanged already. We bought the deadbolt. All he had to do was to plumb it and put the lock on to the two other doors. One of my sons pulled it out of the bedroom the other way and ripped the frame off the door. I got a new frame for the door, which hikes up the labor again. He comes and looks at the three doors. He does the measurement from Lowe’s and that was it. It took them about four days to get back to me with his estimate. His estimate for the three doors where the two doors were already hanged was $868.

Hardware & Home Improvement Stores, Water Heater Service
Here's the deal: The water heater cost $220. Total cost, including installation, was to be $475.
When the serviceman got to the house he said that there were all sorts of issues and it would cost an ADDITIONAL $550. to install the tank. He said that it'd take a couple of additional hours, and the rest was for parts, (so a few hundred dollars for parts). One of the things he said was an issue was that he couldn't even drain the water heater, (it was clogged or something and he'd have to get an extra guy so that they could tip the tank over), BUT the water heater WAS JUST DRAINED 2 days earlier because we thought the problem was that the elements had blown and so drained the tank and replaced them, (it wasn't the elements). So clearly - that was... ummm... "not accurate", at all.
So total cost that Lowes wanted to install a $220. water heater was $1025.
Did I have them do it? No way. I had them leave the water heater. Today I had the water heater installed. It took about 2 hours, and did not need ANY additional parts - none. Not one dime was spent on additional parts. All the parts needed came with the water heater.
One last note - I understand the serviceman is not a Lowes "employee". But Lowes - he is YOUR contractor, hired by you to service your customers, and so Lowes IS still responsible for the service that he provides under your name.
