Carina Construction

Our time with Carina Construction was amazing and the best choice we made when it came to building our house. We have often said how we feel blessed having found Matt, Elise, Amy, Cassie, Mike, Terry, and especially Tim. From the beginning Matt and Elise took the time to listen to what we wanted in designing our house. Elise gave great design advise and was a joy to work with. She took time from her busy schedule to meet with use to help pick out flooring. We had a house that we wanted to demolish, and Matt provided us with fantastic advice as well as connections on demoing it. He took the time to walk us through the process of demolishing our house and never once did we feel as if we were bothering him with all our questions. Our house is truly our dream home and I know we couldn’t have had a house as beautiful as this if it wasn’t for everyone at Carina Construction. Our foreman, Tim, was awesome. He did a fantastic job with everything, especially all the tilling (we had a lot of tiling). Amy and Cassie were a joy to talk to. We really enjoyed Mike and his help he gave us with demoing the house. This has been a fantastic experience and we are going to miss spending time with Carina Construction. We feel as if we really made some good friends. Thanks to everyone at Carina Construction.

dThe builder did not disclose ground water conditions which would prohibit a foundation installation without appropriate engineering. They lied about the conditions of the well water as well as the ground water.  They skipped a layer of sand filter for the septic. They punched a well within a neighbors leach field and failed to perform a water test. They delivered the wrong back half of the house and the house does not match the technical drawings. They forged preliminary drawings to match the house that was delivered as oppose to the the house I ordered, paid for, and that which is shown on my blue prints. They built the second floor in a manner which is not in accordance with NYS residential code. They put a lien on the house, though the certificate of occupancy was not "due" for several months, and despite the fact that it will not pass NYS Code. They treated me with absolute disrespect when I insisted that they fix these problems. Because our contract prescribes mediation and binding arbitration, I cannot sue them. They, even after nearly two months, still have not agreed to a date for mediation. I believe they want me to spend the additional monies to sue them into compliance with our contract; attend mediation and arbitration.
