Topsoil Plus

Please note, I am unsure of exact date of service - it was summer of 2005 or 2006. We are now in need of more dirt, and in calling around I contacted them, then realized who I was talking to. Being a new member, I wanted to share the information with the rest of Angie's List so you all can avoid our problems. The provider was very very nice over the phone, and as I said above, offers a great price. Quality is the problem. They delivered a few hours earlier than they said, and we were not home. They delivered more dirt than we ordered, which normally we would not complain about, but it overflowed into the street. When we got home it was already there, and it had started to rain, so we had to work really quickly to move many wheelbarrows of dirt off the street so it would not impede traffic, nor wash down the street. We recruited friends, family and neighbors and got a lot done very quickly. Unfortunately in all the confusion we didn't notice the quality of the dirt. It was not until we had moved quite a lot of dirt - spreading it all around our yard! - that we noticed there was glass in it. SIGNIFICANT amount of glass. At that point we felt it was too late for us to refuse it, because it would have to be scraped back up from all over our yard. When we spoke to the company they said they do screen in with a harps cord method, but that "small items" get through. To this day, four years or more later, I am STILL finding glass in my yard!
