Stay as far away from this company as you can. Damaged my brand new siding while installing a gate. Not sure if it was when they removed the old fence/gate but it certainly was not there before. Long gash where old gate was. Robert claims his crew didn’t do it but how would he no when he wasn’t there. Refuses to fix it. Shame on them! old gate entrance has not been used and was boarded up cause we needed a new one.

Hired them from a recommendation of a friend and they did a great job. We had them install a stockade fence around our entire backyard and an aluminum pool fence. They came within a week for the stockade and completed in 1 day- looks great! They came back for the aluminum when it was in stock and also completed in 1 day, there was a slight malalignment of one of the self closing gates, I contacted the office and they sent someone the next week to take a look and fix it all. Not to their fault but one of the posts went through an underground pool pipe and caused a leak- when I contacted them about the gate I also let them know about the piping, they also came and fixed that without any charge. They did a better job than my pool company would have as the pool company wanted to cut up the concrete, Robert's guys dug a hole big enough to expose the pipe, didn't cut my concrete pool deck and fixed the piping with the gate as well all in one day. Overall very satisfied with the work and would recommend.

They came to install the fence. This required them taking the old fence down. I have 3 dogs so we had to coordinate this. After they took the fence down they told us they did not have gates with them. This was an issue. We kept a section of the old fence and blocked the opening. They said they would be back first thing in the morning with the gates. They did not show up and did not call. We tried to reach them to find out what was going on. They said they would be there the next day. They showed up late and put the gates in. The fence was missing pieces and was slanted (not straight). We asked them to fix it. They siad they would and 2 days went by and we did not see anyone. The sales guy called and said we needed to pay the final payment. We said it was not installed correctly. He came on Monday and said yes it was not done correctly. Took pictures and we did not hear back until that Sunday when someone showed up to fix the fence. He was a contractor not an employee of the firm. He was able to correct the issues. The lack of communication and customer service is horrible. I would not use them again for a fence. Too many issues to get the job done.

Let me start by saying our salesman Ernie was easy to work with and very helpful. I had used Roberts to install a stockade fence many years ago with no problems at all, so I decided to use them again. Also they were the most reasonably priced of my 4 estimates. This time we had a cedar fence installed around the perimeter of our property. But because there were some hiccups with the quality of the initial fence panels that were installed, I unfortunately cannot give them an overall A rating. (I did give an overall B rating.) The initial installation was problematic in that some of the fence panels had "fence shaped imprints/discolorations" on them. Also, some panels had gashes going across them. I did call both the main office and the salesperson at the end of the installation regarding this matter and they assured me that they would send somebody to come and fix any and all problems. The good news is that they did just that. They sent an excellent installer (Joell) who replaced the compromised panels with perfect ones and made some other necessary corrections. Now the fence looks great. Thanks Joell! In summary, I was not at first happy about the quality of some of the the initial fence panels, but since they promptly made all the necessary changes, and since the final result is a very nice looking, strong fence, I would recommend them again.

Company came to install fence. They installed the wrong fencing, basically 2 different types. They refuse to answer my calls or address the situation.

This company is the worst.. They promise and promise and deliver nothing. We used them for our house in Stony brook where they came and measured the job, then when they installed the fence they came up short by 3 feet. It too over 1 year to get them to complete the job, after calling and calling and calling... Our second house they came an measured and we signed a contract for them to do the work, 2 days prior to the job we confirmed that they would be there on the Sunday. We even called on Saturday before to make sure. Both times he was very rude and told us he would be there... Well Sunday came and went with out even a call. On Monday we call only to be ignored even more..
If you really want a fence installed properly and professionally DON'T USE THESE GUYS!!!!

He was great and his guys were great. They got the job done quick and cleaned up after themselves. Everything went well, I didn't have any problems.

I initially contacted Robert's Fence in April of 2010, I was pleased with their estimate and the impression they gave me, and I fully intended to hire them as soon as my cesspools were done (so as not to damage new fence with heavy machinery). Unfortunately, it took a year and a half for plans to be approved and cesspools to get done, so when I called back Robert's in September, I figured I'd need a new estimate, so I'd go through the motions and then get my fence. I did mention they'd been out in the past, but at the time, I couldn't find my old paperwork. When Rob Jr. came out to my house, he was running 15 minutes late (NOT a problem to me, I've been stuck waiting around for hours for various professionals to show up), and he seemed to be in a rush. He took measurements, but he was not LISTENING to anything I said. I had to repeat myself several times to get across what I was looking for (black chain link in the back yard, white PVC in the front yard). When he said he wanted a copy of the survey of the house, I said that I had one if he could just wait a moment, I'd run inside and get it. He said no no, just fax it to the office, and he'd get me an estimate once he had that. (He was the ONLY fence person to leave my house without giving me an estimate, including from 2010 when we had several companies come out.) So I faxed the survey, but it didn't go through (which I didn't find out till two days later when I called them... not their fault, glitches happen). So I faxed it again, I got confirmation that it went through from the secretary, and was told that Rob Jr. would get back to me with an estimate soon. Almost a week passed with no word (every time I tried calling, Rob Jr. was out of the office). In the meantime, I managed to find the ORIGINAL estimate, from Alex. I called back AGAIN to find out that still no estimate has been drawn up, and in fact Rob Jr. had no idea who I was, no memory of coming to my house, and no paperwork on us. I told the secretary I found the original estimate, and that it was Alex who came out last year. They said that Alex will come out the next day and get this all sorted out.
Alex showed up on time, seemed nice enough, and my husband and I felt that he understood what we were looking for. But instead of an updated ESTIMATE, he presented us with a CONTRACT and a request for a deposit. Now, though I HAD been intending to hire them, this whole experience thus far had left me questioning if that was the right choice. So I felt very pressured to make the decision right there. I spoke to my husband in private briefly, and we decided that it was still a good quote, and that Alex seemed much more responsive and we would be OK going ahead. So we signed the contract and gave him the deposit.
They scheduled the date for the installation with us quickly, and work began within a week. That Friday, the workers showed up promptly and began taking out our old, nasty wire fence which was clogged with vegetation. The hauled away MOST of the old fence (a few pieces left behind), but left many LARGE piles of yard waste around my yard. It's entirely possible that ANY fence installer would have left that, however I cannot say that they left my yard clean and neat. Also, there were several stumps that were on the fence line; we removed them ourselves on Saturday, as we were unsure IF the workers would do so. I am uncertain what the industry standard in that circumstance is, and we figured better safe than sorry. As to the installation that Friday, there were a few fairly major problems, though they got fixed. I specifically noted during the planning stage that the front fence should end IN LINE with the edge of my house, as we want to expand our driveway in the future. The post for that end was originally installed a good 2-3 feet CLOSER to my driveway than the end of my house (and that made a big difference). I spoke to Alex, and when he stopped by (since he wasn't there with the workers to start with), the post got moved and the fence wound up where I wanted it. We also wanted a double drive gate in our BACK yard fence, so we can get a trailer in and out of the back where it is stored. I asked that the gate be CENTERED on the driveway (and Alex also SPECIFICALLY said he was telling the workers to CENTER THE GATE ON THE DRIVEWAY). After the workers left the first day, only the cemented posts were in and when I went to check on them, I found that they had lined the gate up with the side of the house, which is a 4 foot difference from where it should have been. So after my husband got home and confirmed that I was correct, they had put it in the wrong place, we called and left a message. The next day, we called again and were told that Alex would come by and take a look. He did so, at the time we were told to expect him. He tried to explain WHY the workers had lined the gate up with the house ("It's more common."), but left with assurance that first thing on Monday, they'd fix it and the gate would be where we wanted it.
Monday came, and the workers did not. My husband and I called the office repeatedly throughout , but the secretary was unable to put me in touch with ANYONE (Not Alex, Rob Jr. or Rob Sr.). Tuesday, the workers STILL did not come. I called the office in the morning, and the secretary again tried to put me in contact with Alex, but I didn't hear anything from him for most of the day. That evening, I got a call from Alex apologizing, and saying that the workers would be there tomorrow (the forecast was for heavy rain all day long, so I doubted they'd show). At 9 on Wednesday, I called the office and the secretary confirmed that no work crews were going out that day due to the rain, but they would be there tomorrow! Thursday, they DID show up (an hour late, because all their tools had been stolen off their truck and they needed to buy new ones), more work got done, the fence posts DID get moved to where we wanted them (though the cement foot that had been used to fix one of them in place was left, half dug-up, in the ground). Alex called and asked if he would be able to pick up final payment that evening, but as my husband and I both work very late, it was not feasible. If that factored in or not, I don't know, but when I got home that night, the work was still not completed.
On Friday, the workers showed up, completed the installation of the gates and the fencing. They were getting ready to leave and asked if everything looked okay. There was a top cap missing from one of the front PVC posts, which they hadn't realized. One of them said he would be back with it around 4 and would put it on (The guy did come back later, around 6pm, and popped the top cap on). I looked around briefly, and everything else seemed fine otherwise, so the workers left. It wasn't until later that evening when my husband came home and we had a chance to really look around the yard that we noticed cut-off ends of screws, two-foot-long sections of fence wire, metal ribs used between fence junctions, and other assorted bits and scraps left around our yard. Not just one or two, where we could say "oh, I guess they just missed a few," but so much that it seems that they simply did not clean up at all. Which brings us to the general topic of cleanup. There were metal pins in our driveway that could have punctured a tire. There was a spray-paint cap left (heck, they could have just tossed it into MY garbage pail, it was just a cap!), and on the FIRST day of work, the workers left their empty Powerade bottles in the yard. These are little things, but they demonstrate respect (or lack thereof) for the customer who has hired a professional to provide a service.

All went as planned, estimate, contract and installation. I was so satisfied we contracted for them to replace the rest of the fence around the rest of the yard. That work will be done in a few weeks.

They were great! First we called for a ballpark figure on the stockade fence, then we decided to have them come out for an estimate. When they came for the estimate, I also asked them to relocate part of our chain link fence and put in a gate I had forgotten to mention when I called for the ballpark figure. The written estimate with the additional work was only a few dollars more than what I was quoted on the phone. And for another $300 they removed and disposed of the old fence. They came the next morning and installed the fence, did a great job and left nothing behind. The new fence looks great. My mother-in-law still had the bill from the original fence put up in 1987 and she spent $2300 then and she didn't have any existing fence to remove or chain link to relocate at that time, so we felt the price was awesome.
