We had no water.  John came over prepared to replace our well pump.  As it turned out, we only needed a new motor for the pump.  John had the equipment he needed on his truck and we had water that same day.  I would recommend Sterling Pump to anyone needing well and pump replacement or repair.

I had a problem with our 30 or so year old water system and decided to call Sterling pump based on other reviewers positive experience.
The John and Mike were personable, professional and a pleasure to do business with. Obviously I hope I don't need to call them anytime soon, but in the meantime I would recommend them to friends and family

was not even their job. They were wonderful!  I called in the morning and told them I had no water, they were there by early afternoon, explained everything and were very professional.  They obviously know what they are doing.  There was a minor issue the next day and they came and fixed it and then fixed my kitchen sink sprayer which was not even their responsibility.  I would recommend them highly.

John Sterling, the owner of Sterling Pump Co.  came to the house totally prepared to fix our well problem.  He kept my son in law completely in the know by phone as to what he thought could be the problem and then, what was actually the problem.
He showed me the very weathered electrical wiring for the pump and exposed wires.  After removing and examining all of the wiring John checked the water pump and let us know what the complete problem was.
The pump had been replaced in 2007 he said and was still in good condition.  John needed to re-thread all the electrical wiring and run it all through a new plastic pipe from the water pump from the 300' deep well.  The wiring in this case was the main problem.
Sound simple?  For a skilled owner like John Sterling it was simple.
He was here about 3.5 hours.  When he left, everything had been put back in its place, our water ran through all our faucets and everything is back in its place.
How wonderful that our local community is blessed with a conscientious and dedicated man like John Sterling and his Sterling Pump Co.

In October 2010 we noticed our well pump coming on with no water running and eventually lost pressure.  John came out, dug up the well and replaced our very old and rotted foot valve.  We found him to be exceptionally knowledgeable, hard working, pleasant and professional. He showed a friendliness and concern for the welfare of his customers that is all too rare these days, and the price was quite reasonable for the amount of work and time spent.
Then four years later in 2014 we noticed the pump coming on again, indicating either a leak like a running toilet somewhere in the house (which we couldn't find) or a possibly expensive leak in the well piping.  Concerned, I left a voice mail message which John promptly responded to.  Over the phone he patiently guided me through some tests that showed there was no leak on the well side of the pump.  Just to be sure, I continued to monitor the pump for couple of days then left another phone message with follow-up questions.  To my surprise (and without my asking) John came to the house and repeated the tests to confirm there was no problem at the well.  He then remained for a long time carefully checking the entire house for leaks and offering a lot of valuable advice. There was no charge for this service.  Here is a well established local business that is definitely worthy of your trust.

Suddenly lost all water pressure - called John due to great Angie's list reviews. He came out within 1/2 hour, was pleasant, honest and professional and quickly located and fixed the problem which was a broken electrical wire within the well. Very reasonable rate. Highly recommended and would use again.

I had a problem with the well system where the pump was continuously running. The problem manifested itself through enormous electric bills. After patching the problem by lower the pressure of the system, the leak became to pervasive to manage this way. Water pressure was so low that shower heads just trickled. I call Sterling, left a message and the promptly called the next day. After discussing the situation and determining that this was not an emergency they put me in their work queue after emergency, no water situations.
The arrived on the scheduled time on time and fully prepared to address any issue that could have caused the problem. With in minutes they had the pump out of the well, debugged to determine that the pump was good and the piping was leaking. The pipe was replaced, the system verified and water back on within hours. They even improved the pressure so now the showers almost knock me down!
This was my second experience with Sterling (the first was a failed pump about 15 years ago). Both times I found them courteous, responsive, knowledgeable and most importantly communicative. They explained the process start to finish, answered questions to satisfy my "inner engineer", and left the work site as they found it.
I would recommend them to anyone.

For about two years i have had dirt in my water, I had three different plumbers to find out why and nothing they suggested worked.  Finally Sterling came out and found the my tank was set really low and it was never flushed out.  So he raised it and flushed it and now I have clean water.

Our pump seized (perhaps struck by lightening) on Friday night.  Our plumber came Saturday and replaced a burnt out breaker and other related components in the house finding that the deep-submersable pump (400' down in the bottom of our well) was bad.We called and left a voice mail on Saturday with Sterling Pump Company.  A few hours later, John from Sterling called, asked a few questions and verified that the pump most likely needed replacing.  Hearing that we had been without water for over 24 hours, he would call in a helper and be there first thing in the morning.  On Sunday morning at 8AM, John called to say he would be here at 8:30.  At precisely 8:30AM, John and a very polite young helper quickly verified that the pump was not functioning.  After four hours in high August heat, and hauling 400' of pipe and an impossibly heavy pump out of our well, John replaced the pump with a new one, and put everything back including fencing they had to remove to access the well. When they were finished, the area was immaculate, the well was treated for bacteria (Board of Health mandate), and John carefully laid the pump out of sight when he counseled me to keep it for insurance claim purposes. My husband and I were in awe at the highest degree of professional conduct, service and "know-how" experience bar none! We are very very grateful.

I called and spoke to John about my water pressure problem he asked if I had water and i said yes at that point we both agreed it was not an emergency.  He called back within a day to let me know when he could come down and look at it. He showed up on time and diagnosed the problem within minutes. when he told me the price I was surprised how fair he was. At no time did he try to upsell me anything! He was very honest and professional  and I would definately use this company again. when you have a water issue you are at the mercy of the tech, but John was unbelievably honest and I felt very confident with him..oh yeah, if I did not have water he would have arranged his schedule to get out to me right away he makes it a point to prioritize the jobs and I like that.
Keep up the good work guys.
I will definately use this company again!!

I noticed that my well pump was running continuously and not shutting off like it should.  It was late January - not the time of year you want to have a well problem.  I called Sterling because several friends have used them and recommended them in the past.  Sterling pulled my well pump out of the well and found the problem quickly.  The plastic pipe had cracked where it connected to the top of the pump and was allowing water to flow back into the well.   The basic repair was simple... replace the connector.  However, since the well pump was 25 years old, I decided to replace it, too, rather than wait for it to fail a year or two down the road.   I also decided to replace the plastic down-pipe with heavier duty schedule 80 pipe and hopefully avoid a repeat of this problem.  Sterling was good about advising me of the options I had and what they would cost.  They were perfectly willing to do whatever I wanted and didn't pressure me to choose one over the other. Overall, they were very professional and courteous.  I had researched the cost of a new pump and feel they charged me a reasonable price.
