Before going to the salon, I called to find out if the salon did African-American hair, as not everyone can. The lady on the phone was quite upfront, and let me know that they mainly did white hair, but asked if I would come down for a consultation, which I did. Upon arriving, I was greeted by the colorist Nicole, who motioned me to her seat where she did an initial consultation. She was very knowledgeable. I was quite impressed as she wanted to test my hair to make sure that the color would indeed take, as I had a lot of grays, on top of the fact that my hair is thick. When she determined that she could indeed color my hair satisfactorily, she asked if I wanted to do it at that time, as she had a cancellation. I was thrilled, as I was already there. While I was waiting for the time to go by after she colored my hair, I was offered a variety of beverages, ranging from water, to tea, coffee etc. The service was tremendous! Everyone, was extremely welcoming and professional.
Next it was time to be washed. I do not remember the name of the young lady who washed my hair, but she was phenomenal as well. After shampooing my hair she gave me a scalp massage, which was mesmerizing. Then it was on to Tiffany, who as I mentioned before fit me in. Tiffany, really took the time to speak with me and get to know a little bit about my hair type, and how I normally wear my hair. She then proceeded to blow out my hair, and straighten it. Even though her appointment arrived, she never rushed me or made me feel as if I were intruding. She spoke with me and provided me with much needed tips on how I could maintain my hair and keep it healthy. She knows her material, and has a genuine love for what she does. After, she finished straightening my hair, I asked her if she could please curl my hair, and she obliged.
Overall, I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a warm, friendly, and professional setting in which to get his/her hair done. I especially recommend this salon to anyone of color looking for a local place in which to get her hair done, without having to drive all the way out to Queens, Brooklyn or even the city! Wild Orchid is truly a top-notch salon!

I stumbled upon this place because I wanted eyelash extensions. I love my eyelashes and have maintained them for 8 months. Eventually decided to make a switch to getting Tiffany to cut my hair. I had been going to the same cutter for 20 years. Same haircut same look. Always afraid to switch because I wear my hair short. After seeing all the haircuts coming out of this place, I took the leap. I also am getting my hair colored by a colorist instead of the same person that cut my hair. HUGH difference. I now look totally more polished and contemporary. Also added a few hair extensions to the front. They offer highly professional services that no one I know offers in the area. Cutting edge coloring, cuts, extensions and eyelashes.
