that ServPro of North Huntington was the “best” available in its business, I
engaged Servpro to perform extensive mold remediation and water damage cleanup
due to Hurricane Sandy on our 2000 sq. ft. house on 60 Cobb Road, Watermill NY
11976. The remediation involved:
1.
Demolition of the interior of the first level of
the entire house, which included the kitchen, living room, dining area, 3
bedrooms, crawlspace, hall closet, etc.
2.
Steam cleaning the interior of the house
3.
Antimicrobial treatment to be sprayed in the
interior of the house
4.
Drying of the interior of the house
The work took approximately a week and was completed on
January 18, 2013. In March of 2013, less
than two months after Servpro “completed” their work, our contractor uncovered
mold in our ceiling and in the crawlspace.
As Servpro has a warranty on their services, we requested them to return
to retreat the house, but they refused under the claim that “remediation was
completed” when they left on Jan 18. We
were informed that we have not maintained “proper humidity and temperature,”
which caused the mold to return. Upon
completion of mold remediation work on Jan 18, we were not informed of “proper
humidity and temperature” by Servpro.
Furthermore, as Servpro did the demo work themselves, they were fully
aware that we would have to rebuild the house because of the extensive damage. At the time, we didn’t even have heat or
electricity, which Servpro was also aware of.
There was no way to maintain “proper humidity and temperature,” as the
house was and still is a construction site.
Servpro has been negligent in the follow-up and did not inform us of
what was required afterwards. They were
very quick to demand their money for work, which we hesitantly provided. However, once fully paid, Servpro has been unprofessional
and now refuses to meet their obligation on their 6 months warranty, after
failing to complete their job.
