This is part 2 of a previously submitted review. We were preparing our home for sale but were delayed by the Covid pandemic. We finally had Matt return in late spring to finish painting. I was concerned because we had refinished our hardwood floors, but Matt was beyond respectful to our home and he and Jair did a wonderful, clean and thorough job. People have commented on the quality of the paint job and it's because of the thorough preparation of the walls, banging nails back into the walls and using the best paint. Matt also spent valuable time on things that enhanced the look of our home and brought it up to date. For example, he replaced our two 1960's era thermostats with more up to date models with digital displays. The research required to find compatible thermostats was not easy, but Matt persisted and it created a new, more vibrant look to our home. This scenario was typical of everything that Matt and Jair did. I want to caution readers that Matt may not be the least expensive estimate that you will get, but the value that one gets is well worth it. The proof in our situation is that we put our house up for sale in September and had 4 offers within the first two weeks. One of the offers was above our asking price. Much of the credit must go to Matt who is truly a "Master Handyman."

Matt and his team are the best of the best. Had some relatively minor items to repair, as well as installation of drop down attic stairs in the upstairs hallway. On time, professional, pleasant, great value, well mannered great guys to work with. Craftsmanship is top notch, got exactly what I was looking for...communication was great and expectations met. I fully intend to use them for any and all future work and highly recommend their services.

I had what I thought was a small job, a leak I had noticed on my enclosed porch and I no longer had the services of my trusted handyman of many years whom I would have turned to with this issue. After reading reviews, I called Matt. He examined the leak and then in his further assessment found much bigger issues: that the windows installed over 15 years ago were the wrong windows, had not been sealed correctly and that there were other areas of hidden damage. The siding had also not been correctly installed. He sent me photos and attached links to articles to educate me about his findings. He never went further even in his assessment without my consent and made himself available to me to talk about his findings and his recommendations. I was horrified by the enormity of the damage done by someone else's subpar and expensive work and was hesitant to so easily trust Matt. He drew up an extremely detailed estimate, every step of the work delineated with labor and materials, completely transparent and indicative of his innate fairness and competence. Where he could save me money, he did. I went ahead and had him proceed. I can tell you that after that initial hesitation, he has won my trust completely. He is a professional, has integrity and is a pleasure to deal with. He is extremely knowledgeable about a vast number of topics but when he doesn't know, he will say so. He was flexible about adding and removing items (mostly adding!) as the work proceeded. I very much appreciated the quality of his communication with me and his understanding of my availability because of work for in-person meetings. When there were some minor issues with the work that I was not completely happy with, he addressed them immediately until they were to my satisfaction, not asking for the last third of the balance until I was completely pleased with the job done. Knowing all that had been previously done incorrectly, I am relieved to have found someone who is both competent and trustworthy. His crew was a delight to work with as well. I just signed a contract for another job with Matt and have already discussed with him the jobs for next year!

This was the first component of our project to prepare our home for sale. The company is aptly named (Master Handyman). Not only are Matt and his crew of Greg and Mike knowledgeable, skilled and dedicated to providing extraordinary home repair skills, but they are reliable, pleasant and expert communicators. Whereas too many companies simply provide a one sentence estimate regarding the scope of work to be done, Matt provides a detailed scope of each task and includes the estimate for materials and labor. This offers maximum clarity and minimizes confusion regarding the work to be done. It also allows for flexibility since specific tasks can be added or removed as the work is being done in order to maintain one's budget. Among the tasks done thus far, Matt and his men painted a large downstairs den, laundry room and two other rooms, did carpentry work to replace a ceiling which had been opened due to previous plumbing work. In addition, Matt power washed our 10 by 20 foot deck, achieving a result I never believed was possible. The wood does not look like a 30 year old deck any longer. Similarly, painting and carpentry work was done with great skill, care and concern for the customer and his/her home. They treated our home as if it were their home and we are very appreciative. I think that the quality that most separates Matt from others in this field are his magnificent personal attributes. He is honorable, a pleasure to have in our home, and has a disarming sense of humor even if his jokes are not quite as good as mine. In summary, his communication is worthy of special note. He responds to phone calls and emails in a very timely manner and there is no guesswork in terms of the specifics of the job. My wife and I also appreciate his keen eye in observing items that may be a concern and he quietly addresses such as a leaky work sink or gives us the information and we have the choice of whether we want to do it or not such as a vent hose on our dryer. We always felt like partners in working with Matt, focused on obtaining the best result we could for the money we were spending. In summary, Matt Stern is a true professional in his field providing skilled work within a solid knowledge base with the interpersonal skills to work effectively with challenging customers. The initial portion of the work has exceeded our expectations, and we eagerly look forward to having Matt, Greg and Mike return to do the upstairs of our home. I'll update this review upon completion of that work. Thus far, it's been an extremely positive experience. Matt Stern possesses that unique combination of task competencies to go with his considerable communication and interpersonal strengths. We highly recommend him.

Matt is truly a Master, and very versatile. All of the work was done beautifully, as good or better than new. His assistant was also a good craftsman. He always was prompt, responded to emails in a timely manner, and worked around our work schedule. He was careful about honoring our double entry arrangement so our cat could not get out. And he is very pleasant to have around as well. He did an outstanding job, and while his prices seem a bit high, he provides excellent value for the money. Where he can save a few dollars, he will, as well. I plan to have Matt return in the spring to do some modifications and repairs on our screen porch, and undoubtedly some other repairs as well. The enclosed photos show one ceiling area (a tree came through it) and Matt's repair of the area.

Matt Stern is a very professional and knowledgeable guy. He estimated (very fairly) and worked on 3 problem areas in my house that had water leakage issues. He fixed all of them....esp. a leaky bedroom window which nobody over the years could fix. He did it! He is very knowledgeable about most jobs including gutters, masonry work, waterproofing issues, painting, repairs and more. I trust his recommendations, as I believe he knows what he is talking about. His pricing is overall fair (most of the time), and he gets the job done. Good find!!

We interviewed multiple handymen services in the area, and Master Handyman Matt Stern immediately stood out as a consummate professional and also a really funny and nice person. His estimate wasn't the absolute cheapest, and he admitted up front that it wouldn't be but that we'd receive really expert personalized service. We had a long and complicated list of jobs we wanted done, and he walked through the house with us for over an hour to truly understand the parameters and provided a detailed computer-program-generated estimate and was able to book the job quickly. Over the course of the work, we ran into snags and delays that weren't his fault (needed electrical work done, I provided wrong parts, etc), and he was very polite in scheduling revisits and adjusting the invoice, etc. It really was a pleasure working with Matt, and we will definitely be working with him again in the future.

Matt was wonderful to work with... very professional, thorough and organized. His estimate was quite detailed which was very helpful as the project evolved and items were added, deleted or changed. This made it easy to understand changes to the total cost. We did work in every room of the house and the finished project turned out as good as I had hoped it would. He really did a meticulous job. Matt and his crew were very reliable. They showed up on time every day or let me know if there was a change. Very happy with the entire process. Matt’s prices were fair, he was prompt, professional, courteous. Even though this was one of those small, pain in the neck type jobs it is always so difficult to find anyone to perform, Matt treated it like it was as important as any big ticket job. He went the “extra mile” when we ran into some complications.. I would highly recommend him and will use him in the future.

Matt was a pleasure to work with! We were looking for help to restore a recently renovated bathroom after a frozen pipe burst required cutting into sheet rock in our bathroom ceiling, side wall, and removing a large portion of tile. Matt was able to quickly fit us into his schedule for an estimate and once we were ready to begin work, the project was completed efficiently and the bathroom looks like new! Matt pays very close attention to detail and takes a lot of pride in making sure the job is done right. We would highly recommend Matt and are planning to work with him again in the near future!

Matt has completely three separate jobs in our home over the past 12 months and done exceptional work in everything we've requested. The first phase involved removing and replacing our exterior front door and renovating the facade of our home to a more modern look as well as hang new shutters. Matt custom built composite columns and trim work to give it a great look while at the same time providing a long lasting and weatherproof guarantee. Matt advised on all of the materials, completed the job when he said and left the job without any sign of debris or construction. The excellent work on this first job led us to hire him again to repair the screens and rotting wood on an old screened in porch with new screens and weatherproof composite materials. He also power washed our deck and home to remove stains and mildew. This job was completed with great care, reasonable cost and on time. The most recent job was a renovation of our garage. Matt repaired the concrete floor with epoxy, patched cracks and laid new concrete to pitch water in the garage away from our home. He painted a new weatherproof and slip resistant floor, insulated the walls, replaced and repaired all of the drywall including painting and sparkling, removed the existing tool bench and custom built a new workbench. He also moved our existing washing machine drain to a more convenient location and tied in a new line for a dehumidifier to insure that we would not experience mold in the future. Matt advised on all of the materials and offered a great suggestion about the dehumidifier, something we had not even considered. All told he's an honest and decent person who can be relied upon to do good work for a fair price. When the time comes for the next repair in our home he's the man to call.

Matt arrived on time and was very professional in his work and demeanor. He was able to accomplish in one visit a number of "lighter" things to do on my "to-do" list as well as the main reason for coming which was to fix a poorly previously installed sliding door. Highly recommend!

Matt did a very good job. We were very happy with the tile backsplash. We made some design changes along the way and Matt was very responsive and understanding. There were a couple of minor issues. But Matt was very cooperative and has worked very hard until we were completely satisfied. We would absolutely use Matt again.
