James Aliperti Wood Floors

I should’ve read reviews before hiring him. He is getting quite old & I should’ve realized he wouldn’t be doing the work. He talks a lot but doesn’t deliver quality work. He installed a red oak floor in a small entry area. He said “ we leave house cleaner then when we arrived”. All talk and BS! He’s a “film flam man”. Then when they arrived his helper can barely speak English. Then the owner tried to tell me that he has 25 years experience. BS! His English would’ve been better then. He used a quick drying shellac to apply color. It was blotchy and I called him on it before putting down a fast drying water based polyurethane. I said “shouldn’t you put more color down”? I had to call him back twice. Then he used a pre mixed color/poly the second day. Still not 100%. He told me on the estimate that it would take two days. He cut corners and tried to do it in one day. We had wood dust everywhere in our home. Took 2 hours to vacuum and dust.

pretty good job on the sanding; they missed a few spots on the sealer; also one board is very loose. I called them back to see if they could fix the board but they have been unresponsive. They did cash my checks right away, they were not unresponsive in that respect. I also wanted a quote on some carpeting, but they couldn't seem to call me back for a month and by that time I already had new carpeting from Empire. These people need to get some communication skills.

They made three visits to the home.  Each visit was less than hour.  The two people were running around.  They tracked water into the house and onto the floor they were working on.  They did the job rushed and inadequately.  The quality was not up to their reputation.  He also used bad language around us and had a bad attitude.  We called him one time to come back because there was hair and dust in the floor, he just buzzed in and out with no apology.  The finishing was not good, the stain was slapped on.  They put a fan on to dry, but it blew the sand in from the other room.  It was all very sloppy.  He kept rushing the other guy working as well. 

The molding was installed upside down. When we told J. Aliperti, they said that the molding "goes both ways" and that "this is how we install it in all the houses we do." My husband and I had bought molding to match another room directly next door to where J. Aliperti worked - and it had been installed properly there. After spending a lot of time looking at molding online and consulting a professional interior designer, our findings were consistent. The vendor installed our crown molding upside down.

Fantastic. We called on a Saturday, J. Aliperti came on a Sunday to give us an estimate, and we offered him the job that evening. We needed the floors to be done very quickly because we were about to move into the house and wanted them done before we were in there with our furniture, et cetera. So he started the NEXT DAY and was done by that Wednesday. The job done was excellent; floors are beautiful. He even had his guys do all the work of pulling out carpet tacks and staples that would have taken my husband and me days to do ourselves.

They did a great job. They were friendly. They were on time. They did high quality work. They were very responsive. They were quick to do the job.
