We have used Gibson in the past to install ac units on a new construction project that went well. He was there everyday doing the work himself with another guy and everything was installed great. This time we called him to check out our new place. He found many things wrong and gave us a price of 6800 dollars to fix it. When he started he had two other guys do most of the work, he wasn't around for more than a couple of hours daily if that and it came out very sloppy. This work was started November 2013 and was never completed. Originally back in November of 2013Gibson said he would replace ductwork his guys did not install properly. That ductwork is still not replaced after I called him about it twice and he was over trying to get our systems working in the winter for heat and summer for AC. We were also told we needed 2 new very expensive thermostats and we should install future furnace exhaust. The price for all work jumped to 9600.00. That included him having me buy exhaust ductwork he later said he could not install in a chimney pipe chase. Long story short our heat did not work right, then our AC systems did not work in the spring, Gibson returned and got the AC units working but never replaced the ductwork in attic that he said he would multiple times. He also said we needed relays for the heat and AC to work and we never heard from him again. We would never call Gibson again and feel we were ripped off. Items not done correctly: Insulation on heating pipes hanging off Ductwork not supported, and the use of flexible where solid ductwork should have been installed. Wiring not installed correctly, or completed. Exhaust piping purchased that was never installed or needed. Thermostats installed that were not needed (I was told they were needed to make system work. System still does not work) Air handler motors rewired to high fan setting at all times (there is variable speed motors in units for efficiency this does away with efficiency) Gutter in front of house now is pitched the wrong way after condensate lines where installed over it. No strapping of heating water pipes thru out attic. Float switches in drain pans where wired wrong.

Gibson and his team are true professionals. As the head of his company, Gibson is honest, forthright, hard-working, patient, friendly, and down-to-earth. He gets the job done right from the start, often cleaning up the mess left behind by less competent contractors. The first installation of two new Noritz hot water heaters went particularly smoothly. My two older units (from a previous owner) had not been installed nor serviced correctly, and needed to be replaced. The equipment was obtained expeditiously, and the service for the installation was very professional. Emergency service was also prompt, helpful, and much appreciated. The second installation of the Viessman hot water boiler took longer than originally projected (original estimation was 3 days at most; it wound up taking more than a week); but this was not due to incompetence. Rather, it was because Gibson decided to take the time to do the job the right way and not cut corners. He was on the phone for an extensive period of time with the manufacturer, making sure everything was done correctly as per company specifications. He checked and double checked his work; he let me know when extra electrical equipment needed to be put in to properly operate the system. He was flexible and cooperative with a difficult home schedule, and was incessantly patient explaining every detail as he went along. His work and integrity is of a level rarely encountered among most, if not all contractors these days. And his expertise in esoteric areas of HVAC is highly valuable. Yet, he does not take advantage, and is for the most part reasonable and fair with his prices. He could charge much higher with his background and knowledge, yet does not. Punctuality was inconsistent, but this was also due to him working flexibly with a difficult house schedule. Highly recommended.

Gibson White was recommended to me by the Noritz company as a certified installer. He provided a free onsite estimate. He then appeared to do research so that he would be fully prepared to do the work. He was very pleasant and professional to deal with. He had 2 men working with him who were also very pleasant. The job took longer than expected and cost much more money than expected because the gas pipes in the house had leaks and had to be changed. National Grid had to be called 3 times because of the gas pressure coordination, but the timing worked out well and the job got finished. It took 2 days to complete the work and Gibson was on the job for the full time. Considering that the gas pipes had to be replaced unexpectedly, the work went well and we now have hot water in the house. I would highly recommend hiring Gibson. I rated B for the price because I did not get an itemized bill with the breakdown of materials and labor. I received a list of what was done and a price for each thing. Considering the number of hours spent, the number of men on the job and the cost of the tankless hot water heater (listed on the website), I thought the price was very high. I do understand that there are other hidden costs involved, but I still felt the price was very high. I did not complain because I was satisfied with the work and the men were very pleasant and professional. I had extensive electrical work done in my house is Brooklyn and I got and itemized bill of materials and labor and I was very glad to pay the price because I understood what I was paying for.
