Terrible. First they came for the audit and did some sealing of pipes and left a mess. Then they left me with 6 energy saving light bulbs but I noticed their invoice was for 18 bulbs so I think they were overcharging NY taxpayers. Then they took over 6 months for any follow up, made several appts. and broke every one with even a phone call. Now I learn that they have told one of the agencies in NY that I complained to about them that they would be here yesterday or today. Again, no phone call , no show. Then they tell this agency they "tried" to call me. I live alone, I have a landline phone, I have no car and hardly ever leave the house so saying that anyone "tried" to reach me is just a lie. I am here all the time and the few times I am not here I have an answering machine on. All in all they failed on almost every level and now that I have complained to NYS I was told by a person in charge of the Empower program that this company would not have been their first choice, they may not pay them for the audit and a new contractor is being contacted on my behalf. You would be crazy to use this company but if you do , well you have been forewarned.

Very personable and easy to work with. Bryan (head of crew) was great and explained everything to us. He even improvised a temporary way to stop cold air infiltration through our range hood, which wasn't part of his job. The only negative is that the crew is over-scheduled, so they had to rush to other jobs, meaning that final steps (especially cleanup) tended to be rushed at the end of each day's work. House is much less drafty since the job was finished, and we're saving on energy costs.

The Solar Enery Haus team was very professional, punctual, and took the time to explain everything they would be doing. They spent a lot of time answering our many questions...Bryan was wonderful to work with on that! They filed the necessary paperwork for the PSEG and NYSERDA rebates, which was a big savings. They took care with our belongings and were overall professional and respectful. We had a savings of 1060 cfm/50 in the end which PSEG folks agreed was excellent. The house immediately felt warmer and we have noticed that we no longer need to crank the heat to be warm. Also, we used to get an arctic blast of cold air when we opened our kitchen cupboards and our closet doors, but that no longer is the case, thanks to the good work performed by Solar Energy Haus. We had no idea that the cold air was coming up from the basement around the rim joists! The cleanup could have been more thorough (we are also waiting for Solar to return to complete some final spackling in the garage), but overall these are very minor points and do not alter our assessment of the main work performed.

I chose Solar Energy Haus Inc. because I believed that they would do the job right the first time around. I was interested in paying a little more to have the important things performed correctly rather than paying a little cheaper and have the little, but important facets of the job overlooked. Thank goodness my instincts were correct. Everything went smooth. Unlike other jobs I have had done on my house (geothermal, bathrooms etc.), I had no stresses when this job was performed. The attention to detail in the attic was not overlooked. The temperatures have not been extreme yet, and I can already notice a difference the attic insulation/ air sealing has made. The entire house temperature is even and the same in every room. It was 80 degrees today and my a/c went on maybe 2 or 3 times (while the attic was 115 degrees today). Before the insulation on a day like today, the a/c would be on all day. The guys were very nice and friendly, worked their a**** off in a hot/humid attic, but most importantly cared that  they did a good job. All of my questions/concerns were answered and addressed (an I had a lot). The blower door test before and after the job that was performed displayed that the job was done well. Before showed a number of 4400 cfm for 4700 sq ft, and the after insulation number went all the way down to 3200 cfm for 4700sq (these numbers include the basement). Just the upstairs (2600 sq ft) the post insulation number was 2800cfm. Also, I got free duct sealing, light bulbs, and $1,000 rebate complements of PSE&G. Financing @ 3.49 available via NYSERDA (EFS) for insulation costs. I hope to use Solar Energy Haus for solar panels  in a few years.

We called Solar Energy Haus to come and do an efficiency test on our house because we knew we needed to have insulation put in. Ron showed up on the date and time we expected him. He did a full audit and provided a report and explained where the issues were in our house.  He provided all the information and help for the loan process and rebates offered.
They prompty showed up on the date for the insulation and they made sure they cleaned up.
I would recommend Solar Energy Haus.

Ron Bauer fom Solar Energy Haus was my primary contact. He answered all of my questions- and I asked A LOT of them- and helped me with the rebate paperwork that ended up lowering my costs. Mr. Bauer was very polite and professional while also maintaining a good sense of humor.
I barraged him with questions for about a month after having the energy audit done (before deciding to have the work done). Once committed, he brought in his people to check the air flow, the furnace, the insulation and so on. I was given a lot of feedback that day in conversation before I got the report. He brought to my attention that the furnace was burning hot and wasting fuel.
On the date that the work was scheduled, his team arrived early and worked quickly. At my request, a HVAC guy was brought in to replace the dampers on my furnace which (in itself) has saved me at least one full oil delivery this past winter. His crew was polite, efficient, and clean.
The only area where the company lost points with me was on the safety and cosmetic fixes. Some of the caulking and spackling was sloppy and obviously hurried. I will fix these myself without a problem, but it was an annoyance in an otherwise fantastic experience.
I totally would (and will) use this company again.
