"We are very sorry that you feel the way that you do about our company. It really disheartens us to see this review because my wife and I work countless hours and invest all of our time into making our business a successful one for our family as well as our customers. As a professional yourself, I hope that you can understand that we have a code of ethics with our designers that we are strongly committed to. It is our duty and obligation to protect professional and associate members of the Interior Design Society, that bring their clients to us. Since you didn't use our company directly on your first project that we completed for you, we are not able to take you on as our "own" customer. We run our business on honesty, integrity and fairness, and with respect to our colleagues, I personally could not complete the project for you without you notifying your designer. As for pricing, please know that you were not charged a higher price by going through the designer. We give our designers special trade pricing, so that their clients receive the same pricing as our own customers would. As for installation, I was not aware that there was any issue after the shade was installed until reading your review, nor would we ever refuse to fix any wrong doing. I did touch base with your designer Claudia today and explained why the shade should be mounted on the outside in my professional opinion. Please understand that when I measured your window, I always take into account the measurements and the installation for the best possible application. Your previous inside mount wood blind, had brackets that were mounted to the corners of the window opening and allow screws to go through the backside of the bracket. The new product selected was a PowerView Honeycomb shade. This product has brackets that have to be screwed through the top of the bracket and have to be mounted closer to the center of the window. The trim around your window is extremely thin, and with that being said, would very likely have cracked with an inside mount installation or would not withhold the weight of the shade overtime. Please also take into account that when you order a motorized shade, that does add to the cost of the shade and you do need more window depth then when you order a shade without a motor. I touched base with Claudia today in regards to your concerns and she said she will be contacting you. I have pictures of where your old brackets were mounted if you would like to review them. As you can see from our other customer reviews on Angie's List, we are not the type of company to ever leave a customer unsatisfied. We wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving and we apologize that you are dissatisfied with our company."
From the minute I walked into the showroom in Huntington Station to the installation three weeks later, I was very pleased with my Homestead Window Treatments experience. I chose two different types of blinds--one top-down, bottom-up shade for a bathroom and off-white wood blinds in two bedrooms that lift just by raising the bottom of the blind. In the master bedroom I chose shutters that look terrific! All were from HunterDouglas. The installation took place three weeks after purchase, just as Mark Perel stated, and the installer cleaned up after the job was complete.
I would be happy to return to Homestead Window for any future treatments!
