My husband and I would highly recommend Karen's services. Having rescued numerous dogs and cats from SPAC, she has a definite compassionate connection with all animals. Some of the services she rendered are: flexibility in her schedule to accommodate our request, the option to have an individual or group cremation(with others) and to stay during the cremation if we so desired. Her adjacent sitting room has a nice warm wood stove (probably gas but looked nice). The crematorium is solar powered and is a state of the art machine. We were able to be with our kitty by ourselves before she closed the door. You can not view the cremation so we chose to go to Hudson and eat breakfast and return in a couple of hours. By then she had removed the ashes and placed them into a metal tray where we could view them if we wanted and pick out some bones if we desired. She gave us the option of taking them in that state (mixed ashes and bones) or further grinding them up for scattering(smaller amount). We chose for her to further grind them up. Karen then had a choice of tin containers for us and placed the ashes in the one we chose. She also offered a couple of bookmarks which she personalized with our pet's name and a velveteen bag in which to place the tin.
Some people may not want the details she offered but it wasn't required. We found ourselves touched by her thoughtfulness and now have bookmarks!! The whole process took about 2-3 hours. With all the news of crematoriums not doing their job, just taking your money, this was by contrast a loving experience for us. We left feeling reassured that we had treated our 17 year old companion with the respect and love he deserved.

I was so happy to know that this service existed. A few years ago there was a big scandal when it was discovered that pets who were supposed to be cremated and returned to their owners were actually being discarded in a pit in a field and the guy was just returning ashes from a fireplace. It was a scam. That's why I was so happy to hear about the service that Buddy's Place provides and it was recommended by the Vet.

Once I found out that it was being run by Karen and Andrea Walker I was really happy. I have known them for years and my daughter was in Karen's Girl Scout troop and went to school with Andrea so I knew they were very trustworthy. I am absolutely thrilled that I now know that when my other Pomeranian passes in the future that she will be treated with love and care and returned to me.

Buddy's Place is located on 20 acres of land in Stockport, Columbia County. Both Andrea and Karen reside there with their combined 7 dogs and 10 cats. There are woods, ponds, streams, meadows, and the most beautiful gardens. If you wish, you are also welcome to be present at the time of your pet's cremation.
