JM Custom Contracting - Joseph Meile - 718-738-1594 Mr. Miele was referred to us by our painter. Mr. Miele is a relative of our painter and we were assured that he was reliable and honest. My wife met with Mr. Miele at our residence in June 2012 to discuss with him our plans for the kitchen. The initial meeting went well and my wife was satisfied with Mr. Miele?s recommendations for the renovation of our kitchen. He began work the following week and told my wife he would need a payment of $2000. He began the work and I paid him $2000 at the end of the second day of his work. For that $2000 he closed off an entrance to our kitchen and built an enclosure for the refrigerator. This entailed building a 2X4 frame and some sheet rock, he also gave it one coat of spackle. After starting this job he made recommendations that we redo the entire kitchen (New cabinets, granite counter tops etc.). He gave us names of his contacts for Kitchen cabinets and Granite counter tops. We visited with both of them and found that they were more expensive than the other contacts we found through another contractor. We ordered new cabinets, appliances, and the counter top, and we were still waiting for Mr. Miele to get back to us with a written quote for the work that was done and the installation of the new items we purchased. We chased after Mr. Miele throughout the summer trying to nail him down to a time that he could finish the work he started, and give us a written estimate for the remainder of the job. In September our cabinets were delivered to the warehouse and our counter tops had been fabricated. The dealers were pressuring us to take delivery of the cabinets and counter tops. The appliances had been in the garage since July. We still could not get a written estimate from Mr. Miele or get him to finish the work he started. He agreed to this and came to the house one evening to reassess the job. He started to point out what he believed to be problems and started growing the project out of control. We once again pressed him for a price and a written estimate. As he was leaving the house in a huff he said to my wife that it would cost at least $5500 plus TIPS !!! Well we decided at that point that we needed to get estimates from other contractors. We spoke to 3 other contractors and settled on one that would do the complete job for $2475 ... The other contractors also said the work that Mr. Meile had done was worth no more than $500. Needless to say we went with another contractor who completed the job in ONE DAY !! And our kitchen looks fabulous .. Don't Trust Joseph Meile !!!
