Didn't go well in a number of ways.  First, install the wrong type of light.  Second, left the wiring hanging looped and unsecured from the light.

He was polite and expedient. He went downstairs to estimate the cost of putting in a new service box from outside in to the main feed. His first estimate was $2,000. I blinked. He then said $1,000. Even though my friend had suggested him, I felt anyone who could change his estimate that deeply, that quickly was "hinky." I had the entire job done (new exterior cable from weather head to new meter, to inside new 200 amp circuit breaker system for $800 including inspection) by a competitor).
