I was shocked at how unhappy I was with my experience. I asked neighbors and colleagues for recommendations and everyone mentioned Andy Butler. The price was very good and the finished product is fine--the workers, though--that's a different story. As long as the owner was present, things were fine; the problem was that he didn't and couldn't supervised them every minute they worked. It took them 3 weeks to do the job. Of course, if they showed up every day and worked a full day when they did show up it wouldn't have taken them that long. Here are some issues: 1) Drove through my neighbor's yard needlessly. Luckily I have the best neighbors in the world, but I want to be a good neighbor too. There was no reason for their truck to be driven through my neighbor's yard. 2) Shingle pieces and nails scattered all over the yard. I am still fining roofing nails and have not had to cut the grass yet--that should be interesting. 3) Every plant and flower around the house was ruined--literally stomped into nonexistence! 4) Workers smoked nonstop and all that smoke was sucked through my house. 5) Brand new custom made window screen and framing was ruined--by brand new, I mean installed less than 2 weeks prior. The owner did replace at his expense. 6) Banging on walls (?) was excessive enough to jar glassware off of shelves and break. While some of that might be expected what truly angered me was when I heard the third piece fall and break (I handn't heard the other 2)the workers laughed and yelled "there goes another one." There was such a lack of professionalism and respect for my property that even at that price I was thoroughly disgusted. I was hoping that I would be happy with their work and get a bid for painting. That will not happen. I can't explain why my experience was problematic when so many had recommended him. My guess would be that it comes down to the specific workers that did my job. I'm just not willing to take the chance again.
