Auto Towing Service
Called my Roadside service to send a tow truck to pull my car from deep snow on a unplowed road to dry pavement. The Service said they would send a local Tow Truck from Rick & Rich Towing and also gave me the telephone number to contact the Towing company. Called the dispatcher from this towing service to give them direction to where I was and to ask for a estimate on how much it would cost (I had only a $50 allowance). The dispatcher refused directions and would not give an estimate, since I had my 9 year old grandson with me, whose was scared and we were in the middle of no where I did not say anything. When the truck arrived I asked the driver how much did he think it would cost to pull my car, the driver said he had no idea on the cost. I was pulled out with the truck pulling me 100 ft at a time, it should of taken (3) hookups but the last 50 ft he hooked me up (2) times. During the hook ups the truck got stuck and the driver said that he would have to get another truck and this was going to get very expensive. I asked how expensive again he would not answer. but somehow he got the truck unstuck when I complained on being charged for a second truck. When the job was done I was presented with a $425 bill. The driver said it was high because of the amount of time (aprox 1 1/2 hour) it took to pull me out also of the gas he used finding me. (the dispatcher refused my directions) When I got home I called another local Towing company and asked for an estimate to do a job similar to what happen to me and they said it would cost about $170 dollars at the most with a min. of $90. Then I called the owner of Rick & Rich towing and complained about the overcharge and the owners only comment was that their service started at $300. When asked why I was not told about the $300 min. the owner justed repeated that his service started at $300. This towing company took advantage of a bad situation and I would not recommend them at all to anyone and if its possible I will press crimmal & civil charges againist them.
