JOHNS FUEL OIL INC

I used to be extremely happy with them. Prompt service, good prices. I bought a new boiler for $6,000 from them and pay the annual service contract. But when I ran out of oil last week, they charged me $342 to bleed the air out of the system after I filled up again. It was literally less than 10 minutes of the technicians time. $342 and after begging, they took $20 off. I know, my bad for running out of oil. Trying to keep it close with the prices these days. But to nickel and dime me in these difficult times when I give them thousands of dollars a year is unconscionable.

They provided excellent service and follow up! The pricing was fair and competitive within our area for a Peerless. Extremely satisfied and planning to follow through with getting our fuel and future service through them.

Service was great and quick response. Oil delivery response not as quick but acceptable.

They've been fine. I wouldn't have a problem recommending them to someone. I really didn't compare the prices with anyone.

Called John's fuel to have my boiler inspected and cleaned was told after the inspection that the chamber was collapsed and to repair it would cost an additional $500 but I should also look into getting a new boiler because it was 20 years old.  This is also the company I buy my oil from.
After paying $100 for the inspection with no cleaning. I decided to call another company for a 2nd opinion.  The other company came inspected it and cleaned it.  Asked him about the chamber and he said it was fine just a little soot build up and just needed to be cleaned.  I would never use them again for oil or service of my boiler.

I have been a steady customer for 2 years. Called on Friday for Saturday delivery of 100 gal. Took my credit card info.  Sat. Morn phone rang at 8:30. Caller ID said Johns. Went to answer, they hung up. Called back thinking they were on the way and they were warning me.  They said they were running out of fuel and could only deliver 50 gals that day.  I was out of oil so I needed it. I then asked that the per gal charge was the same, they said no. it was .30 a gal higher. That would be an extra $30. They then also informed me that they already processed my credit card for the charge of the full 100 gals at 6am that morning.  They said my options were 50 gals that day and 50 on Sunday, at the higher rate, or 100 on Sunday. The woman on the phone was nasty. I could have gotten a cheaper per gal rate if I wanted Sun. delivery by several companies. I needed Sat delivery. That's why I called Fri. I cancelled the order. They said they would credit the account right away.  I called another company and got a Sat. delivery.  Sunday, I got a phone call from the John's delivery guy who was at my house to deliver. I told him I cancelled. Actually I never scheduled a Sunday delivery.  By Monday they had not credited the credit card account. We called again and then the did it.  If I had not checked we would have been charged but with no delivery. What they should have done was deliver the 50 gals at the original price. It was not my fault they ran out of oil.  But they were going to penalize me for their problem.  They lost a steady customer.
