MR SANDLESS

I contacted Mr. Sandless for an estimate on the kitchen floors. I did get a prompt call back in which the owner described the services offered and gave me a verbal estimate of the cost of the job. I did not like that he did not want to do an in home estimate or look at the floors before pressuring me to give him a credit card number to place a deposit and schedule for two days later. For all he knew, my floors were not even a candidate for the services offered. He agreed to look at photos of the floor through email. He never responded to the email. I was also considering getting my cabinets done and his website said that he could do this as well. After not hearing back from him, i gave him a call and he just responded that they don't do cabinets, despite what the website said. I decided to go with a different provider because I did not like that this service seemed very unprofessional and that they were just trying to pressure me into a quick sale. 

We initially were very happy with Mr. Sandless's work. They came early to our house on the day we agreed on. The owner came with the two refinishers to supervise the job. They did use sanders because our floor had some deep ruts and scratches, which was fine. They were done in about 4 hours. They left one bag of garbage on our driveway, and I just had to wipe down our kitchen cabinets once or twice for residual sawdust. We were happy with the results. The finish is not as shiny as polyurethane, but its hard and scratch resistant.
The problem I have with this company is that they did not refinish far enough under our refrigerator. As luck would have it, our old refrigerator died a couple of weeks after the refinishing, and the new refrigerator is not as deep as the older one. So, we can see the line where the refinished floor stops. I called Mr. Sandless and left several messages and they never returned my call. I finally talked to the owner, and he said that they don't do under refrigerators because it scratches the floor when they push it back. He said he would send his workers over the "next time they are in the area," but he didn't make a commitment to fix this. I'm not holding my breath for them to come back, so for now, we haved pulled our new refrigerator out a bit to cover the line in the floor where the old floor meets the new, refinished edge. I'm disappointed, because I love how the rest of the floor looks.
