Metric Motors

One morning my car wouldn’t start. Figuring I had a dead battery, I went to the auto parts store (Autozone) and bought there top of the line, high quality battery. Three days later, it was also dead. Further investigation showed that the alternator was bad, so I took the car to Metric Motors for an Alternator replacement. When I went to pick up the car, the bill also showed that I was being charged $150 for another new battery. When I asked the manager about the charge, he said “We tested the battery, and it was faulty.” I said “Well that’s weird, because that battery was only four days old. Give me the battery back and I’ll take it back to Autozone for a refund.” A few minutes passed and I was told “We can’t find it”. By now I was getting angry. “Well you better find it, because I paid a lot of money for this for day old, faulty battery”. 30 minutes passes and a man finally comes out with my battery. I pay the bill and leave. At Autozone, they tested the battery before issuing a refund. And guess what they said? “There is nothing song with this battery. Whoever old you it was bad is trying to rip you off!”. So I marched back to Metric Motors and again spoke with the manager. He gave a very lame excuse about battery testers and agreed to put my non-faulty, new battery back in and refund me for their scam battery. The moral of the story is that METRIC MOTORS ARE UNTRUSTWORTHY RIP-OFF ARTISTS. They pad the bill with unnecessary parts, assuming that the consumer is too stupid to know or check. How many perfectly good batteries have been replaced because Grandma or some young kid took their word for it? From their fancy building, I am guessing a LOT. If you want an honest mechanic, look elsewhere. If you want to pay high prices to have perfectly good components replaced, Metric Motors is ready to take your money.

Where to begin- brought our truck in for a new clutch was told a certain price and amount of days..went over on both..not the end of the world. Went to pick up the truck not even a mile down the road all gauges drop and we need to being it back. Over a month later only after making a BBB complaint did they call to say the truck was ready after we had checked several times since that's the only way to get an update from them. Now is where the nightmare really begins. We had to get the truck after hours due to the work schedule, get there dead battery, they left the key in accessory, so now we have to jump start it. Speedometer not working. Drive it to work, smoke EVERYWHERE! the thing is nearly on fire at this point. Bring it to another mechanic who told us the clutch line melted to the motor..the brand new clutch line that we spent over a thousand dollars and waited over a month to have fixed melted to the motor. Quality work...i think not. Call Metric and they say bring it back--your kidding after what we went through we would bring the truck back!?! OH and to boot they actually asked when we could send the loaner back...oh i don't know how about once our vehicle is fixed. Not to mention there is only one person there competent enough to answer the phone properly and address questions, if you get the woman on the phone your screwed, as she told us our truck was "done for" and someone wold contact us, sparking the BBB complaint that they asked us to take down! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

They are friendly and do a good job, but they always seem to try and sell me on additional or unnecessary services.

Brought my car in at night and picked it up next day. The people are nice and the place is clean. They have a nice waiting room with a TV and coffee. I always take my car there.

We received a coupon for 15% off labor costs.
When we got there we learned that their standard labor cost is a lot higher than many other repair shops in the neighbourhood. With the 15% off they were just about on par with standard rates.
The owner of Metric Motors was basically very very sly (smart for him) to get us to perform a lot of repairs that were in the end not really necessary. We went in to repair the brakes and ended up replacing the complete drive axles. I DID take the old parts home and showed the removed parts to another mechanic show showed clearly that the replaced parts were not worn or broken.
This is not professionalism, unless professionalism is in the area of scamming counts.

Didn't have to wait long. I appreciate going to a family business. They have always taken good care of our cars.

There were no problems other than supplier delivered wrong part. It was corrected. If your looking for bargain prices this is not a place to go. There prices are fair trade and in line with industry standards. I had the clutch done by a bargain place and it was a disaster.

They were very good. Everything was done very quickly and economically. They provide coupons so you can try finding their coupons to get extra discount. Like in any car service area, you simply have to plan ahead and be maybe without a car for a day. They are very thorough and they explain whatever the problem is. They tell you what you need to know upfront and they usually tell you the cost involved. They are very good that way.
