We had never renovated a house before, so we knew we needed help. We also had never worked with a designer before, but after the first meeting with Alexa, we knew we had found the perfect person to work with.
Alexa is extremely hardworking and responsive (returning emails promptly, even at off-hours, and planning telephone calls and meetings around our busy schedules), and she is incredibly organized. In addition, she has a vast knowledge of many aspects of both design and construction. She is equally comfortable and proficient no matter what aspect of the job she is tackling, whether it be designing an entire kitchen from scratch to suit our lifestyle, choosing fabrics and custom designing furniture to stand up to the abuse of our cats, suggesting an amazing color palette for each area of the house, or even dealing with electrical and plumbing configurations.
Alexa was able to do all of this while working within our budget. She knows where it is important to splurge on a specific item and where it makes sense to save money, while still creating a high-end look and fit the overall intent of the project.
Alexa also has strong relationships with vendors and always knows where to find just the right thing When presented with something she had never done before (finding a combined heater/chiller/beverage faucet for our new kitchen ), she researched the equipment thoroughly, found the perfect product and helped to oversee its installation.
The end result is a historic house that is elegant and beautiful yet completely comfortable. It is welcoming to our guests and it fits our lifestyle perfectly. Everyone that has come to our house has commented on how amazing it looks, and we couldn't be happier. Alexa really created our dream home. We never thought that we would live in a house that appears to be straight out of a magazine, but now we do.
