The initial AC installation in a 3 bedroom, 1000 square foot ranch house ran into unexpected weather problems (heavy rains for days). This extended the installation period for a few days because the subcontracted duct work had conflicting schedules with the attic unit installation. But these problems were overcome and work was completed within a few days. However after a full day of running the AC, there appeared to be insufficient cooling and a sweet smoky odor permeating the return air flow in the house. I reported this to Voelker and they returned to the site the next day. They discovered a piece of insulation which got into the system flow preventing it from cooling sufficiently. The odor was caused by the new glue in the system being heated. The problem was analyzed and corrected in about 2 hours.
The unrelated bathroom sink drain fix was repaired in approximately 1 hour, the day after I called in the problem.

Purchased a new home. Home inspector said everything was fine. We switch propane companies and they would not install the tank until the lines within the home were cleaned and the correct adhesive was used. Voelker came in and inspected the lines, cleaned them. Also found an issue with the furnace which needed to be replaced...which was a small issue and inexpensive. As they were leaving the noticed the basement wall was a bit damp by the sewer line. They asked if we would like to check it out. We of course said sure! Low and behold the home inspector also did not catch a collapsed sewer line. They discounted the cost as we dug what the needed on the exterior of the home. Job was completed in less than 2 days. 1 day of us digging and the 2nd for them to install. They were prompt and understanding at how frustrated we were. They also pointed out things that we may want to keep an eye out in the future.

installation went well. Done as promised. On 1/03/13, I called back to say there was now a problem with a washing machine which had to be moved during the installation of the hot water heater. I have been a customer for about 20 years,. Their reaction to my problem was to suggest that the washing machine hoses needed replacement, which was certainly not true! They treated the whole thing as an annoyance, since I had already paid for the heater in full. It was clear that if there wasn't going to be additional money to make, this was just a nuisance to them.Voelker's plumbing has gotten their last call from me.. I must say, that while they are competent plumbers, they are often very poor about following up with customers. They never bothered to call us back to reschedule an appointment. I had to chase them down.To sum up, if Voelker's is coming through your door, you'd better get the checkbook out.

The new furnace installed in 2011 is the most recent major work Bob has done at my house. Bob was recommended to me about a decade ago by a trusted plumber who was retiring. I have not worked with anyone else since. Bob does not do unnecessary repairs or immediately jump to the the most expensive work. In dire emergencies, he has been over in minutes, even on weekends. The flip side of that is when someone else has had an emergency when I have had an appointment, I have gotten a phone call to reschedule and not been left hanging. His rates are standard for the area and he always provides estimates before proceeding with costly work. When completed, he always itemizes the actual job. His work is long lasting. He is worthy of trust and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Robert and his team did a very good job with installing the unit and bolier work. His prices were reasonable. Since emergencies occur in the plumbing industry, those jobs do take priority over planned jobs, like mine, so I had to wait and rescheduled a few times.

used this company for about 25 years when it was owned by the father. Service and everything was great. When Jr. took over everything went downhill. And I mean everything. I was treated nastily and with disrespect whenever I called the office. When I went directly to the office to talk to voelker to complain about the way I was being treated I was told the jobs I needed done were too small. So because I didn't have major jobs for him it was okay for me to be treated like dirt. Haven't used him since (last 5 years) His loss. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy

"Actually the last work done for the customer was done on Sept. 29, 2006 and it was installing a garbage disposal. Over the years we had always been able to accomodate waiting to get paid from her but in todays economic times we could no longer wait upwards of 3-4 months to get paid for our services. Under no circumstances was she ever treated with disrespect when calling our office. My main secretary, Angie, has been with our company for over 30 years and treats all of our customers with the utmost respect and care. While it is unfortunate that I have lost a customer there does come a time when a business actually has to let go a customer."

It was definitely NOT a professional job. He has others do most of the work. They even connected the cold and hot incorrectly to the bathroom faucet. I had to point that out and they fixed it right away. The toliet seat on my new toliet that they installed still swivels (1,000 toliet). However, the piping that they did for the booster pump and whole house water filter is messy. You wouldn't believe, it looks like a jigsaw puzzle - NOT a professional job.
Response from Robert A Voelker Inc
"The work in question was done in April of 2007 and this is the first I heard of any problems that the member had with my company. The total cost for all the work done was actually $4,506.69 and included installing fixtures in TWO bathrooms and also installing a domestic water pressure booster system including a whole house filter. The booster system was installed in a crawl space with the water piping originating in a laundry room. Unfortunately some of the piping had to be ran exposed in the laundry room due to lack of space in said room. While the piping might seem to be "spagethi like" it was installed in a very professional manner with absolute purpose. The crossed hot and cold water lines for the basin faucet were due to the existing lines coming out of the wall being crossed and not in fact the basin supplies lines installed by my company. We would be more than willing to return to the member's home to tighten the toilet seat bolts and address any other issues she might have with our work. We stand behind our work 100% even four years later. Bob Voelker Jr. Owner and Operator of Robert A. Voelker Inc."
