"This review is totally false."
Two weeks later, the crew came. I got a call the night before to confirm, which was great. The crew was on time and got to work immediately. The problem was, they cleaned up HORRIBLY and worked extremely slowly. I explained to them that I wanted the house cleaned so that I could move my things in finally - this included the cabinets in the kitchens and bathrooms. Here are some examples of what occurred 8 hours after 3 professional cleaning ladies cleaned my house: the kitchen cabinets were uncleaned. There was dust inside every cabinet. The spice cabinet still wreaked of the previous owners' food and spices, and the remnants of spices were everywhere. The cabinets were all filthy and sticky. The area around the garbage can remained splattered with rotting food (the previous owners left the house in great shape, as you can see). Under the baseboards, loads of dust were left behind, and was completely untouched. The stainless steel appliances, especially the refrigerator, looked splattered and had residue of water drops all over them. The floors, which had spackle dust on them, were mopped with damp water, maybe twice. No cleaning solution - because there is no "organic" wood cleaning solution (the company is all organic). I was not forewarned to provide my own cleaning solution for the wood floors. In any event, the floors had white streaks from the spackle dust after they dried. One bathroom had a dirty paper towel remaining on the floor. The bottoms of the showers remained black. The bathroom cabinets were untouched. In the master bath, the maids did not clean above what they could reach - meaning black dirt remained above reach on the tiles in the bathtub. Some windows were not cleaned as promised. Everything was basically just lightly wiped - no elbow grease or effort was used whatsoever. If dirt was not immediately visible, (i.e. underneath the sink, on the windowsill) it was untouched. Mildew remained in the corners of my bathtub. Globs of paint were caked on to my bathtub although al they required was a little rubbing with warm water to come right off.
Before the maids left, they came up to me and asked me to inspect. I had not hounded them because I figured, hey, they're professionals, I told them what I need - BIG mistake. They walk up to me with their coats and shoes on, things packed up, and say okay - inspect. I pointed out the things I didn't like, and they very lazily and with a very upset look on their face cleaned things I pointed out. I didn't even THINK to look into the cabinets because I had specifically mentioned it and it was a no brainer to me. I showed them my dishwasher was dirty - they said they don't clean dishwashers. I told them my TVs still had fingerprints all over them from the move - they said it's company policy not to clean TVs and that I should get my own solution and do it.
The next morning was Saturday and I had to go out of state for a week, but was very upset with the cleanup. I decided to call when I got back. I called the following week when I got home - and this is the ONLY reason this company did not get an F from me - and Bob answered. I told him about my experience and despite the fact that it was a week later, he told me no problem, we will send another cleaning crew Monday, free of charge, but it can only be two people. So another cleaning crew came, as well as a manager (who, by the way, was horrified at the cabinets, the streaks on my stainless steal appliances, and the general poor cleaning job - the house had not been lived in at all yet as we hadn't moved in and had been away since the clean). The new crew was only two people so they tired out more quickly, but this time I hounded them the whole time. I watched everything they washed, and after they washed it, if it was still dirty I pointed it out again. I had to spend the entire day showing them what to clean. They were very nice, and harder working, and this time I gave them bleach to clean my dishwasher and watched them clean all the disgusting kitchen cabinets (which they would have forgotten to do had I not reminded them). They did a better job - much better, in fact - but still, not such an amazing job for a professional cleaning company that charges THAT much money (about $800!) to clean a new house! In my opinion, to be an A-rated company, you have to come in an know what you're doing, listen to the customer and get the job done.
Nobody ever called me after the maids left that day to see if they did a better job. Nobody seemed to really care. First and foremost, the company gets a D- for my first cleaning experience, and maybe a B- for my second. I average that to about a C. And I appreciate that the second cleaning was arranged free of charge. But the services AND the customer service are sub-par. After my second clean, more construction had to be done in the house, spackle dust and all. This time, I called my regular cleaning lady. ONE person - came in, spent 12 hours at the house, cleaned more spaces than I asked Maid Brigade to, and it was SPOTLESS. The job CAN be done - even by just one person! And for less than HALF the price!
My advice to Angie's List users: if you need a post-construction clean/move-in clean, search elsewhere. (a) get a NON organic company or buy your own cleaning supplies (organic will not clean as well heavy-duty, which you need for a move-in clean). (b) make sure to constantly check on the cleaning crew throughout the day to see their progress and point out ALL things that were done wrong. (c) DO NOT use this company. I think if you just need regular housecleaning, this company may be okay, and then it's great to have organic cleaning supplies - but if you are ocd and like a good, deep clean, I would search for a private cleaning lady or choose another company off of Angie's List. As for me, I'm sticking to my fantastic cleaning lady. This company was extremely disappointing and I would not use them again.
"We were very saddended to read this review. We cleaned for (removed member name) from August 2008 until March 2010. Our staff is trained to bring broken items back to the office so we can either reimburse the customer or go through our insurance company to replace items. We rarely break anything and never punish our maids if something is broken. She never contacted our office telling us an item in her home had been broken nor had the staff brought back anything that had been broken. She called the office to accuse the staff of stealing cash from inside of a canister. Our staff never cleans the inside of canisters as they typically contain flour, sugar etc...We asked (removed member name) when she thought the theft had occurred and she didn't know. She additionally shared with us that she had family members in her home who would certainly be more aware of her "secret" stash. We advised her to contact the police and file a report which would have allowed an investigation and perhaps lie detector tests admistered. She refused to contact the police regarding the "alleged" theft of money and simply wanted us to send her $700. We absolutely followed up with her and never understood why she didn't want to contact the police. The maids that cleaned her home had been with us for over 2 years and we NEVER had a single complaint about them. Since March 2010, the same maids are still with us without a single complaint. We have been in business for close to nine years without a single theft issue. We find this accusation to be unfounded, unfair, and very egregious."
"subsequent to this review, the customer has signed up for regular service on a weekly basis."
They took over 5 hours mostly because they are all often in the same room chatting with each other in spanish. Every time we would split them up to go into other parts of the house they would quickly come back to each other and chat and joke around.
They were also supposed to clean our deck and garage and didnt want to. Only after we convinced them that that was part of the quoted price, they did it but only clearly not their hardest and still left it dirty.
Also I was told before I hired them that their vacuums are very industrial with these great filters. They hardly had any suction and the were all being held together by duct tape. Very disappointing.
I would not recommend them nor will I use them again.
"We normally work in teams of two. Our customer insisted on three people which we set up for him. The morning of his cleaning two of our people were involved in a car accident on their way to work. We called one of our backups who could not come in because her daughter was sick (our other backups were filling in for vacations). In order to not disappoint other customers; we had our manager join a team. That left us with only two people for our customer's team. We spoke with him and in order to meet his demand, we arranged for a second team of two to join his team as soon as possible. When two teams come together on a job it is essential that they talk to each other to coordinate the cleaning. Initially there was some confusion about cleaning the garage and deck (we rarely clean these areas) however after checking the job specifications the second team cleaned these areas. Our customer is correct that one of the vacuums had some tape holding an access panel closed (we were waiting for a part). This in no way impacted the vacuum’s performance. We regularly test our vacuums and they meet the established superior green commercial standards. We did everything possible to overcome the employee shortfall; however, after our customer saw that there were only two people to begin with we could not satisfy him. Subsequent to the cleaning we contacted our customer; apologized again and asked if there was anything more we could do for him (we guarantee our work). Other than we began with only two maids he did not have any complaints regarding the actual cleaning of his home. Thank you for taking your time to read our reply. Sincerely, Bob Benenati 516.931.6243"
Arrived as scheduled and went right to work.
Accomplished tasks within 2 hours.
Note: I have scheduled them to clean my apartment on a monthly basis.
