"Thank you for the great feedback. AS"
"Thank you for the feedback, American Service specializes in high end brands and only use factory parts to ensure your equipment runs as new."
My French Door Viking refrigerator needed a replacement part for the piece that seals the space between the two doors and that part was no longer under warranty. My very strong sons have pulled the left side first too many times, and damaged the piece. I called Viking to ask for the names of the factory trained dealers in my area. I called all three before I scheduled a repair visit. All three were quickly responsive to my calls, and all three charged the same price for a service call.
I selected American Service Company because they were closest to my home. I also needed to have the handle of my GE monogram wall oven tightened.
Their telephone representatives were well trained, responsive to my questions, and quite professional. I spoke with Joan, Amy and their call service in the evening prior to my visit to confirm I would be available. Charlie arrived diagnosed the issue, said the part needed to be ordered. He would return to install as soon as it arrived. He also tightened the handle on the wall oven for no charge, as a courtesy for a new customer. Two days later the piece had arrived, and Charlie returned to quickly install it. For each service call, the service agents provided a window when the service would occur. Charlie called 15 minutes before he arrived. He was a very personable, well trained service professional. The telephone agents mentioned to visit their website at www.americanservice1.com to get a $20 coupon- every little bit helps! |I highly recommend this service company. |
"[Member name removed] called on a Saturday and we were able to get to his home the same day. With our tech's many years of GE experience he diagnosed a defrost system problem quickly. [Name removed] was told up front there was an $85 trip charge which is waived if he has a repair done. Certainly, it's disappointing to find out the unit needed an expensive repair. We've been in business since 1946 and have always been upfront, fair and competitive."
"Ms. [Member’s name removed] main complaint is that the repair seemed rather expensive and the unit wasn’t fixed. That is misleading. The oven was repaired properly on 12/30/14. After the initial diagnosis and evaluation, an estimate was given and signed by the customer. After the repair by a senior factory authorized Viking technician, the oven is now heating and the problem was resolved with the customer present. We are factory authorized on Viking appliances, which means there is constant updating of techniques. We are up to date on the latest service bulletins and technical bulletins and have priority access to Viking technical department. The customer contacted us the week following the repair, not to complain about the oven but about the pricing. We explained the technician actually diagnosed 2 different repairs. The first repair on 12/30/14 was for a failed control module and the second repair was for a failed bake igniter. If I break it down, the control module repair was $539 and the main bake igniter was $290. There is also a trip charge of $85. When you include tax on everything, the pricing does come to over $900. We had already applied a $50 promotion. Our pricing always includes parts and labor so our customer know exactly how much the repair will be before making a decision. The customer always has the option of just paying for the trip charge and delaying making a decision. It wasn’t until days after the repair was completed that she actually called the credit card company and challenged the charges. That issue was resolved in our favor since we had a signed invoice where she accepted the cost of the repairs. The next call from the customer was that the oven was heating but shutting down. We have a guarantee on our work and a senior Viking tech returned, ran several operating tests with a digital electronic temp sensor with client present. He found the temperatures read correctly throughout. Even Ms. [ Member name removed] commented to our tech the ‘You’re right. I can’t argue temperature is correct’. He explained that the update spark module that was repaired will cycle more often due to an updated DSI module that was installed. These updated module are designed to work more efficiently by cycling the oven more often. We assume the oven is still working correctly because the client has not called us again. American Service has been factory authorized Viking Servicer on Long Island for 28 years. Our factory trained technician know the Viking products extensively as well as many other major brand. Since 1946 American Service stand by all the work that is performed."
After being shocked by the price I called LG customer service and was given the names of 2 authorized repair centers. I found out that Pennies what not an authorized center even though they list LG on their web site. The Water valve cost $25 and the repair took less than half an hour to complete. My total cost from the honest repair service was $110! LESS THAN 1/3 THE PRICE PENNIES AMERICAN SERVICE WANTED TO CHARGE ME! The job was done perfectly. Lesson Learned! If your gut tells you you are getting ripped off you probably are. There are people who will take advantage if you do not pay attention. I know I will never get my $93 back but it was a valuable lesson
. I also should have read the Angies List review prior to calling. There were some warnings. I just did not realize I would not be dealing with the former B and B Appliance repair.Note: I gave the "price" category a "B" because I have nothing to compare it to. American Service-Pennies was my only call due to their reputation and past experience. I did not hesitate to have the repair done if this is what it would take to get the dryer back to a much newer condition.
