The confident professionalism of the Barr Brothers movers is very memorable. My wife and I downsized from a house to an apartment in White Plains after living in a house for 46 years. It was a very hard process for us, as the purging, giving away, tag sale, and decisions on what to bring to the apartment were overwhelming and something we never faced before. But, as I said, the quiet, confident professionalism of Barr Brothers saw us through. Their attitude, which they exuded, was, "Don't worry, we got this." And they did. They helped with organizing advice and helped practically with boxes. I wanted to have everything packed for the movers, but the day of the move had a lot of stuff of awkward sizes still undone. They tackled that task cheerfully and proficiently. We have a valuable antique, heavy six foot chest with delicate legs. They moved it skillfully and perfectly. The many fragile small items made the move with no damage to anything whatsoever. As other reviewers noted, they set up whatever needed setting up quickly so as not to delay the move. Their price was fair, and definitely earned. When I read reviews, I check the date of the reviews. The reviews with lower ratings are aged -- the contemporary Barr Brothers know what they're doing and deserve your call.

Just used Barr brothers for my local move. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have used previous movers and have been disappointed with their service and attention to detail. After expressing these concerns to Barr Brothers, they went above and beyond to put all my concerns at ease. They were extremely careful with all my fragiles and packaged everything very professionally. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

I had the great fortune of finding Jim and Ben at the door exactly on time.  They are true professionals in every way:  careful, courteous, quick, thoughtful, respectful.  Pricing for movers has gone through the roof in this area, Barr Brothers is one of the few reasonable outfits remaining.  I would have loved email confirmation rather than phone only, but their receptionist was clear, courteous and well informed.  I had to switch dates and they were able to accommodate with no mix-ups.  Even the smallest detail -- borrowing a screwdriver to take my platform bed apart, returning it to the tool box, showing me how the bed should be reassembled -- were outstanding.  When we encountered ice on walkway at the new apartment these guys were unflappable --  moved truck to safer location and put down outdoor blankets to cross the snow.   They had great suggestions for the layout of my new, down-sized space.  Great energy, it is clear that these guys enjoying working with one another.  No dilly dallying, relaxed attitude but working 5 hours straight.  Real thoughtfulness in where they placed and stacked boxes in my new places is making it so much easier to unpack.  It doesn't get better than Barr Brothers!

They were very efficient. It was like a well-oiled machine. They completed the tasks in the time frame promised. It was a painless experience. They were really nice guys as well, which is a plus.

They did not break or lose any of our items. We would use them again in the future.

Fast, reliable and courteous.

It was a difficult move, because our move out date kept fluctuating due to buyers from h*** on our old house. But Barr Brothers was very accommodating and did everything they could to make things less painful on their end.
Also, on the other side, because we were having work done on the house, floors and painting, they actually moved us twice. First, off the trucks and into the finished basement. Then, they came back to move everything to their respective spots.

We used Barr Brothers to move us from Scarsdale, NY to our current home in Charlottesville, VA. They did a great job, and we can highly recommend them to anyone.

The Barr Brothers Moving team (Ben and Evan) were great. They were fast and professional and did a great job. They both had great attitudes and were pleasant to be around on a stressful day. I would recommend them highly.

even with one of their two trucks breaking down on the way to MA, these guys managed to get the job done on the day they said they would, knowing my time constraint. The movers from one truck had to unload the bulk of everything, then go retrieve the other truck and start all over again. All the guys worked very hard, despite crazy heat and circumstances. I would definitely recommend them (already have) and use them again (this was my second time).

They arrived on time and moved whatever I asked them to do. They were very careful not to scratch any surfaces. They were very pleasant to work with!

They arrived to pick up my furniture at the time and date they specified and then delivered my furniture on the date promised - put everything in place and put several pieces of furniture they took apart back together. All in all it was a positive experience.

The best moving experience we've had. The owners and all of the employees are punctual, very responsive and professional. They take great care to make sure that your moving experience goes well. I highly recommend them.

This was the most pleasant moving experience I've ever had, from start to finish. When I called to schedule a time for an estimate I was able to set something up immediately. The company rep. did a thorough walk-through of my home and was able to give me prices-a binding estimate-for everything included, but also provided info. on how much less it would be if we provided our own packing materials and did our own packing. He also recommended a couple websites where we could purchase packing materials at a reasonable price. Additional insurance was available for a very reasonable rate. I called back to schedule our move about three weeks before the actual date. We moved on a Wednesday-there is a discount for mid-week moves-and decided to pack things ourselves. A rep. called back a couple times to see how things were going and see if we had any questions. They also called back just a day or two before the move to confirm the date. Not too surprisingly, we didn't get our packing finished before the date of the move. When the men showed up and found we still had work to do it was no problem. They simply worked around us while I continued packing and even gave me some tips on the best way to fit things together. All the guys were friendly and helpful. They had no problem with things like me breaking out a vacuum to clean up rugs after furniture was removed but before they were rolled up to go on the truck. Some items I wanted to move myself and they offered to help me get them out to my car. When it was time to unload at the new house they were careful to make sure everything made it to the right room and checked to make sure furniture was where we wanted it. (They put more thought into it than I had!) Not a single thing was damaged or broken. (The packing tips I was given at the time of the initial estimate were VERY helpful.) I would definitely use this company again and recommend them without reservations. In addition to full moves, you can hire them by the hour for smaller jobs, like if you just need some furniture moved around in your house.

Barr Brothers Moving Company Incorporated was simply great. They did the work with no problems and nothing was broken. They came exactly when they said they would and were very helpful to me. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN. THEY WERE GREAT. IT DIDN'T REALLY MATTER IF THEY WERE ON TIME OR NOT. THE JOB WAS PERFORMED REALLY WELL. THEY DID A GREAT JOB. I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN.

WE HAD A LOT OF EXPENSIVE ITEMS IN OUR HOUSE AND THEY DID NOT BREAK ANYTHING. THE WORKERS WERE SO CAREFUL WITH ALL OF OUR BOXES THEY DID NOT BREAK ONE ENTIRE ITEM. THEY WERE THERE ON TIME AND WENT BEYOND THEIR CALL OF DUTY WITH THE ENTIRE MOVE. I WILL RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE.

EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL AND TIMELY. THEY COMPLETED THEIR WORK AHEAD OF SCHEDULE WITH NO DAMAGE, LOSS OR THEFT. THEY DID NOT GO ONE PENNY OVER THEIR BINDING ESTIMATE.
