I think the work that he had done was great, and he gave good suggestions which i followed thru. and the value that I recieved for th service was a good value, money well spent, meaning he didn't took advantage of me and milk out of me. He did a beautiful job of my shower.

After a very well done job on our kitchen remodel, we brought John Rivera and his team back. This time the work included a remodel of our laundry room, update doors and replace doorposts, inspect our roof, repoint of chimney + placement of cap, significant enhancements to our exterior deck and all exterior paint work. The team worked for about 10 days. John communicated throughout the process and keeps everyone well informed. He makes very good recommendations and cost-effective solutions. They keep the place very clean and make sure not to damage any of your property which really sets them apart of any other contractor we have worked with before.

We started of with a different contractor who advised that we take down the upper kitchen cabinets. He tore everything down including a drop ceiling revealing wires and and pipes that were not expected. This meant that the brand new cabinets he advised us to order potentially would not fit. We lost confidence in the process and decided to look for a second, professional opinion on how to repair the kitchen which was now torn down for 50%. I approached John Rivera through Angie's List. I called him on a Wednesday and on Friday he was already at our house discussing how to resolve the situation. In 2.5 days John and his team transformed our kitchen. The result is clearly exceeding our expectations. It is hard to clean up the mess somebody else left behind but they did it and make it look easy. 

It is not only the what. It is also the how. I have never had a team that works so quietly and clean. They isolate the space where they work by covering all entry ways and open spaces with plastic. Practically no dust outside the area where they work. They are constantly cleaning up. When they left our garage when the job was done it seemed more cleaned up than before. 

We are very happy and will definitely hire them again for future jobs.

First of all we can't say enough good things about John Rivera and his crew. John  gave us the best price for this job of all the contractors we interviewed. He is a total professional, who is honest, punctual, and keeps to his schedule. He is just lovely as a person and helped us make the best choices for the job. He involved us in all the decisions, and his workmen were honest, hardworking and also lovely. When your contractor shows up on the day he gives you and continues working every day through to the end, you are already ahead of the game! We got the best quality work and can not be happier. We would use him again in a minute! He is one of a kind!!

It went very well. The team took great pride in their work, came up with innovative solutions, and worked with me to keep the costs in line. They kept to the schedule. I am very pleased with the final result.

VC provided fantastic guidance that saved us a great deal of money.  For example, they advised we use the less expensive tile, which I was hesitant to do.  VC advised that with excellent installation a classic look would be better.  They were spot-on! 
VC worked with us terms that suited our concerns (more money up front and larger reserve). 
They did top tier work and it looks fantastic.  I highly recommend them.

I interviewed three contractors for my kitchen, dining room, powder room
and stairwell renovation. Mr. John Rivera met us at our home on a Saturday
morning and spent two and a half hours going over every detail of what we
wished to have done. Within the week, I had a written outline of
everything we had discussed during our conversation and once we went over that
list, we had an estimate for the job within a few days.
I knew when Mr.Rivera left my home on that initial meeting that he was my choice, (even
without seeing the estimate), which made my husband slightly nervous! My instinct told me that he was the
contractor for me. We are planning to hire him and his crew in
the spring and I am looking forward to working with them once more.

From the start of our project we knew John was the man. After having to fire a shady contractor, we were having issues with people agreeing to finish the work with our remaining budget. John came in and didnt sugar coat anything. He saw the issues we had before we could even point them out. He listened to what we wanted done and took meticulous notes, nothing was missed! He responded quickly by email and after doing some number crunching we all agreed to the project plan. The day he said he and his crew would be there they were. Unless there was inclement weather (work was being done during this very bad winter) he and his guys were there at 8:30 am, 6 days a week. He and his crew were respectful of us and our house. Floors were swept and mopped after the end of every day. Any little detail that he noticed was pointed out to us for approval before continuing with the work, down to the exact color and style of cover plates for switches. He was also very understanding when I changed some of the scope of work, rolled right with it.
The workmanship from him and his crew is above and beyond. Every detail was noticed and attended to. Paint lines are crisp, not a line out place. Holes in the wall for electric were small, and when patched up you would never even know there had been a hole there in the first place. He matched the trim in the new office to match the rest of our 86 year old house, you would never know it was new wood, thats how great it looks! Living in a house while it is being remodeled is no picnic, but John and his guys made the experience easy.
I am actually glad to have had the terrible contractors so I could truly appreciate the beautiful work that a true craftsman can do!
We will be using John again to install a fence in the back yard as well as new exterior doors. I wish I had more work for him to do at our house!

gave us fair estimate to replace our old deck...finished in 4 days and came back in couple of weeks to stain...happy with job...cleaned up without any issues...only thing but dont think could have been prevented are cracks in wood that do happen...I just didn't expect them few weeks after completion but I guess thats what happens...would and, if needed, will use again

He knew exactly what to do. It was comforting because I didn't know what should be done and he was able to give good ideas and presented multiple ways of doing the work. He gave me cost options and figured out together what would be done. They were excellent. They were neat, on time, and deserve all the credit! I plan to use him in the future for additional work.

Their prices are fair and reasonable. They have been easy to work with and they communicate. I call them and they call me back. If I have a question they answer it. They offer suggestions and have been very helpful. They clean up and are neat. We will see when the product is finished. I have recommended them so far to people. So far they are reasonable, easy to work with, responsive and reliable.

Vintage Craftsmen declined the job but arranged for someone else to do it within hours. Person sent arrived promptly, completed the task within minutes, charge was very reasonable.
This was outstanding service. I don't recall a contractor ever arranging for someone else to do a job for me when he was unable to do it himself!

I found this contractor because he was remodeling a home down the street. I would drive by day after day and saw the progress on that home, the attention to detail taken and the end result. He did a great job on that home and I asked him to come to my house for an estimate. That was November 2011. I hired him without any reservation because I felt comfortable that he knew his craft, could execute the job, and his prices were reasonable.
One example of how detailed he is, we learned when he removed the porch railing and posts that there was basically only the two end posts on a 45 foot porch holding up the overhang roof. He lifted the roof (which was sagging) and re-supported it more than he really needed to just to be sure it was done really well. We also saw that the lights in the overhang were held up with leftover small scraps of wood. He took all of them out and securely reinstalled more and better lights than was there.
Then came my powder room renovation this April. He was almost finished (it looks beautiful) when he noticed water stains on the overhang on the back of my house (we never noticed it, and it could have been a disaster). He investigated and found that it was water dripping from the master bathroom. So, my powder room renovation turned into renovating all three bathrooms. Because the two bathrooms upstairs were side by side, there was water damage in both, so I decided to just gut them both, fix the leaks, rip out all the rot and reinstall everything new properly. He did the bathrooms upstairs simultaneously but also in stages so that my family could always have one working toilet, sink and shower. The tile work design I wanted required expertise and was done beautifully. He and his guys are sure to do things the right way, they take no shortcuts. They also are sure to put on the finishing touches that really make it a job done right. One example, my master bath sink came already undermounted on the marble top. This made it very difficult for them to tighten the faucet they installed on the sink. They tried six different tools to get into this very small, peculiar space and just couldn't do it. The faucet moved ever so slightly from side to side. One of his guys, on his own, went to an auto parts store over the weekend and found a tool that finally worked. He just couldn't leave the faucet loose, he wanted to do it right. I couldn't believe it, such a small detail, but so important to them.
He is a really great guy who takes his time to listen to you, really understand what you want done and then come up with options for the job. He explains things in layman's terms so that you can understand and helps to make decisions when you need. He is very thorough, on time, thoughtful about your home and doesn't treat it like just a worksite. I am home in the day so I am able to see the work being done step by step. He and his guys are very nice, respectful and trustworthy. I recommend him to friends without reservation. My husband and I are very happy and satisfied with his work and call him back whenever we need something done, we never even consider calling someone else. Great find!
