Very responsible for the inside. He got it right down to whatever job I asked for. It all worked out fine.

Please see above. Everything has gone perfectly, always, from start to finish.
Description of Work: Ralph Gurrieri and his employees have been nearly rebuilding parts of our house since the Fall of 2005. It was a new house at the time but had been sloppily constructed in several critical ways by another contractor. Our basement flooded, our windows leaked, our chimney leaked --- to mention but a few things. And our master bathroom had not been at all completed. Ralph took care of all these fixes and then some: he refinished our deck so that it looks beautiful and the wood will not decay. He calls annually to ask if we want the house power-washed (yes!) and comes to do it. He has finished our basement after cleaning it up and making it safe, and it is beautiful now. He installed not only the sump pump, to code, that we needed but also built in some French drains with a system that leads them to the sump pump so that we didn't get any dampness around the perimeter of the basement (which is entirely underground). He re-framed all our windows on the outside, with a material that's not wood so it won't rot, so that no window leaks now. Same for our chimney. And same for a small roof extension related to a bay window off our dining room. He re-did that roof. He also changed our gutters, which had been way too small for the rather large roof area of our house, and which therefore didn't drain heavy rain very well at all. And during a nor'-easter in which we lost power for days and our backup sump pump battery ran out of juice, he came over with two of his guys in the middle of the night (literally: about 2AM) and left the guys here to bail water from the sump pump hole until daybreak when Ralph could get our backup battery recharged somewhere. This went on for two full days and nights because so did the storm and so did the power outage. There's more, but the summary is that Ralph is wonderful, his guys and his subcontractors are wonderful, all are trustworthy and very polite, and for as long as they are in business we will turn to no one else for anything involving work on or in our house.

He is quite dependable. Ralph shows up when he is supposed to with his workers. He doesn't do the work he is the boss. He is pricey.
Description of Work: I used GJG Contracting most recently to put in crown molding and they painted the whole main level of my house. He gutted and re-did my entire lower level family/recreation room. He made a wet bar for me.

It was amazing. Ralph is not cheap, but you get what you pay for and I think charges are reasonable given level of workmanship and quality of material. He and his people are consummate professionals who pay exquisite attention to detail, show up on time and leave the place cleaned up. As I made changes during the job Raplh's response was always and quot;Yes, we can do thatand quot;. When I asked for detail tiles to be inserted after tile job was done his response and quot;No problemand quot;. His tile guy (Charley) is an artist, meticulous. If you use Ralph you will not be disappointed, your job will be perfect. GjG also took off 3 roofs and put on a new one for me, and fixed tile, replaced window, and painted another bathroom. All well done in timely fashion. Ditto with my chimney. All this was done in part to prepare house to sell. Now I live in NYC and wish RGJ and Ralph were here. Contractors here very expensive and little attention to detail.
Description of Work: Did many jobs with GJG over a period of 12-18 months. Biggest were removing 3 roofs & placing new one and gut renovation of bathroom with radiant heat in floor, glass shower enclosure, basket weave marble floor, tiled ceiling, regular & hand shower, bench in shower. Also did "freshen up job" on my other bathroom - repaired tile, installed new window, painted and replaced chimney. The $100K price refers to all jobs. The gut renovation of bathroom was around $50K.

I was extremely happy with GJG's work. Unlike most contractors, Ralph was almost immedately responsive each time I called or emailed him. He showed up every morning with his crew to set them up and confer with me, and came back later the same day to review what they had done. He couldn't have been more professional, and I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Our TV family room had had a difficult mold problem, and by the time I called Ralph Gurrieri of GJG, it had been stripped completely to the studs. The walls, cieling and floor had to be replaced, built-in book shelves with a window seat had to be recontructed, and the whole room had to be painted. As soon as I approved the estimate, Ralph had a crew working on the room, and the work was excellent in every way. GJG's cabinet maker did a fabulous job -- it looked 100% better than the work he was replacing. When the family room was done, I decided to use them to refurbish my kitchen. The quote above is for the TV room only. The kitchen job ended up being even more time-consuming, but it was done carefully and well: They removed old wallpaper and painted, sanded the old cabinets and repainted, replaced an old window, and the same cabinet maker who built our TV room shelves enclosed some open shelves that were situated in a tight area. They now blend perfectly with our old cabinets. Since the time of these two jobs, I've continued to use GJG for smaller projects as they come up. Ralph always manages to find appropriate people for any work that needs to be done, and his rates are always fair.

The overall experience with GJG was exceptional. First off Ralph was very punctual with his arrival and the execution of the work. Ralph came to the house on two occasions to familiarize himself with the job before commencing work. Ralph was always forthcoming with information relating to the project in terms of providing his professional opinion as well as well as reaching out to a structural engineer and a plumber to successfully complete the job. GJG will be my first phone call when future projects come up around the house.
Description of Work: Reinforcement of house's main beam in the basement and subsequent removal of support columns to open up the basement into one large room.

The entire job went as expected and scheduled. The workers showed up on time and left my home each day completely clean. They were trustworthy, and I felt comfortable leaving them in my home alone - and, most importantly, trusting them with my 2 dogs.
Description of Work: Totally gutted my basement and storeroom. Enlarged my living area by cutting the space of my storeroom. Added a wet bar, put down hardwood floors, painted all walls, added recessed lighting, re-hung pictures and put down a new base at the fireplace. Also, added a slopsink to my laundry room.

From day 1 job went like clock work. Every day someone was at house. Tile job was complicated and took a week plus, and then when tile was finished I asked Ralph if they could cut tile and insert glass border tiles into juncture where four of the 6 inch diagonal tiles met throughout the diagonal tile section of the wall. Much to my surprise he replied "Sure, no problem. We can do whatever you want." and the tile guy came back and put in around a dozen inserts. Ralph was responsive to me, although I did not have to call him often since it seemed obvious that job was moving along not only efficiently but with workmen who were masters of their craft. The bathroom was completed in 4 weeks and at end of each day my house was returned to me in near perfect condition - always cleaned up, the guys would vacuum their way out the door.
Description of Work: Developed leak through wall of bathroom into kitchen below. Decided to remodel bathroom & ended up gutting the old bath. Instead of bath tub built 3 x 6 foot shower enclosure with custom made glass doors. This required moving waste line for toilet so toilet could be moved over a few inches. Removed recessed radiator and put radiant heat in floor. Tiled floor with mosaic stone with marble border, walls with subway tile below a glass border/chair rail and diagonal 6 inch tiles above to border/crown molding at ceiling and then tiled ceiling over shower enclosure. New vanity, in-wall medicine cabinet, lights, fan, fixtures and finally a pint job.
