It went very poorly, even though the company employees are very personable and friendly. The demolition was incredibly disorganized. Additionally, the work performed was sloppy. There was dust throughout the house which he filed to clean up at the conclusion of the job. Garbage was scattered around the job site from start to finish, so much so that the building inspector came to the house on at least two occasions to warn about the situation. Additionally, workers would not show up for days at a time, which necessitated constant "reminders" to the contractor that the contract provided for workers to be there on a daily basis. During the time the work was being done, there were several times the GC was unreachable for several days to a week because he went out of the country on vacation. This required that the GC be constantly threatened or cajoled to complete the job in a timely and professionally workmanlike manner. It became a joke between my wife and I that he was like the painter in The Murphy Brown show. Sad really....as it became a full time job to oversee the overseer.... By the way, the leak which he was hired to correct was NEVER properly addressed or resolved. Portions of the work, such as the deck railing, were not properly affixed and required him to return to the job site 7 months after the job being "completed". He will now have to return again, as the subsequent repair was done incorrectly as well. In short, the total experience was a horror show and the work continued for at least 5 months beyond the completion date. The kicker was that he also did work on a building for me during the time he was doing this job. Same work ethic - same craziness and no way to get out.

DHI understands the value of customer service, managing budgets, and providing the optimal solution for the client. We are now working with Bill on a bathroom remodel, and he did an amazing job on a full kitchen renovation for my brother in White Plains. It's a great feeling to know you have a general contractor you can trust to work in your home while you are not present. Bill and his team are always professional, outstanding craftsmen, and very fairly priced. A great combination. Two Thumbs Way Up!

The job was not stressful and I'm happy with the results!

When we decided to do the extension we requested bids from 4 companies. Discover Home Improvement offer was not the lowest price but second to the lowest. We liked the knowledge of the contractor/owner and we liked that he gave us ideas we had not thought of with our architect. These ideas made our family room look bigger and brighter and at the same time we were able to save some money in the overall construction project. So, at the end, although it started as a second lowest, it became our lowest price contractor. We were given a schedule for completion and I have to say that although there were a number of changes we requested as we went along, the project was completed pretty much on time.

THEY ARE A COMPANY THAT IS BASED IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD SO I LIKE THAT THEY CAN BE EASILY REACHED. I LIKE THAT THEY DO QUALITY WORK AT A COMPETITIVE PRICE. THIS WAS A MAJOR PROJECT AND THEY CONTINUALLY LET US KNOW WHAT STAGE THEY WERE IN. WE WERE OUT OF OUR HOME FOR MONTHS BUT HE KEPT REASSURING US THAT WE WOULD BE BACK SOON AND THE WAIT WOULD BE WORTH IT. EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL NOW AND THE HOUSE IS COMPLETELY CHANGED THE WAY THAT WE WANTED IT.
