I called the service number and the technician showed up, he said the incorrect setting caused the valve problem. he changed the valve but the price of valve is 10 more times than market price, which I was told by OEM later. I called the company service number 3 times but never got response.

We ultimately ended up purchasing a new water heater--it was time after 18 years! I appreciated Eugene's honest assessment of our older water heater and the options he presented. We decided to go with a new water heater and were very pleased with the install of the new unit. Good, prompt, respectful service.

Replaced a toilet seat for my father who is 90 years old and disabled. Charged $97 for the toilet seat. It wasn't made out of gold nor was it a government contract. I recently took over paying may fathers bills and ran accross the reciept.

My aunt had family visiting from Europe so she really needed this problem fixed. She had used this plumber brfore and thought why not call them back for this emergency. The job was completed. In the process one of the workmen had cracked a toilet and the toilet needed to be replaced which they did do... after my aunt reminded them that they needed to replce the toilet.
Then my aunt went along with normal life thinking everything was okay... Later the spring of 2013 she noticed a foul odor coming from the basement. She had her HVAC guy check out the heat vents and he noted to her that her basement was extremely damp and the crawl space was very damp... the AC vent work had been disconnected and left lying in the dirt (of the crawl space) He thought that maybe a mouse had crawled into this disconnected vent work and died... so He replaced the all the vent work in the basement.
In August 8, 2013, we experienced torrential rains... My aunt  was awakened by the sound of water gushing.... Her basement was filling with water spilling out of the crawl space. into the finished basement area... the water could not be stopped. My aunt called and we immediately went over to find ( my husband had to crawl into the flooded crawl space... an open sewer drain, he thought a storm sewer drain that had been cut in half and left open hanging through the crawl space wall... with water running out of it...
My aunt called Ben Franklin and they came and yes they knew they had left a drain pipe open which had poured water into my aunt's crawl space for 9 months...so they packed it with concrete and closed off another open drain. We called Rainbow...($5,000) they came and performed black mold remediation, it was everywhere, my aunt had been breathing it for months (the foul odor). We called Indoor Air Professionals ($1600.00) to clean and disinfect all the vent work. All of her floors had warped...her carpeting on the first level was full of black mold. She lost the finished basement, all wall to wall carpeting, hardwood flooring, and her health...Ben Franklin is insured and has done nothing to reimburse my aunt...We had to hire an attorney and Ben Franklin is stalling- stalling...

Called them, they came and did the work just fine.  It was just too darn expensive.  Cannot recommend.

The employee was prompt, professional, knowledgeable. The $80 fuel charge for 4.33 miles is what will make us not to use them again.

Estimator came on thrusday before job, gave an estimate and after agreeing to job he installed shut off valves for bathtub so that the person installing the new faucets and showerhead  could work without shutting off the whole house. Tuesday (8/28) Job was started with the old faucets and showerhead removed. Found that drywall behind faucets had rotted away due to leaks in the old faucets. Installed new faucets and overflow and waste . Total time on job 4 hours. Job not totally finished. After reconstruction of tilework company will come in and finish the job.Company does not have anyone to do tilework .

There was nothing particular that stood out about them and I would give them an average across the board. I paid about $55 for that service. They offered to redo the service of my hot water tank, but it was basically just their way of doing a sales pitch to replace the hot water tank. I was interested in doing that eventually, but at that time I just wanted it serviced.

Came one week to do the estimate, which was in the middle of two other estimates. Came the next week to do the work. Called 15 minutes before he got here. My 1-year-old was sleeping, but he did not wake her up once while doing the work. Turned off the water to the whole house, started in the bathroom, and worked his way to the basement. Finished in less than 4 hours. Had to come back the following week to fix one of the kitchen sink handles again. Called 15 minutes before he got here. Came, went. Done. The bathtub facet vibrates a little, but otherwise, we are very pleased with all the work.

There is a difference between having a toilet fixed and a major re-plumbing job in an old house. I went back to Penny's Hardware who I used successfully for a smaller job and was not happy with their approach or estimate. They wanted to tear up my whole kitchen to redo the hot and cold lines to a second floor bathroom in a 1910 3 story house. I called Benjamin Franklin in desperation (I had used them before for a sewer problem. They were too expensive but they fixed it right). Mitch gave me an estimate that was lower than Penny's and 4 days less labor. He came up with a solution that minimized wall and ceiling damage. He started the next day and completed in 1.5 days. It was well done and has solved the water flow problem we were having.

They were not really that cheap, but they did a good job. I have no complaints besides the price. They were prompt and thorough and answered all of our questions. We will definitely have them back and hope that other people use them as well. They are a dependable and reliable company to do business with.

They definitely overcharged me. I will never use them again as they are for sure price gougers. I had an emergency and they came right away and then said all of my pipes needed replaced and it was going to be 5000 dollars and when I called around another company only wanted 700 dollars. They took advantage of me. They put in this temporary piece for now and it has to be redone and they charged too much for that. They charged me what I should have paid to have the pipe permanently replaced. They did come on a Saturday and they were responsive.
Response from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
"When was this call? The last time we were at this address was in 2007 and the charge for that call was only $181.56. Additionally, in 2007 this territory of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was owned by Don Powers Plumbing. The territory is since under new ownership."

They have this guarantee that they will pay you some money back if they are late for the job. They have to dig up a lot of dirt when they do this type of job. Then they fill it back in and leave the excess dirt there because the ground may settle and they will need to check it in a few weeks to put more dirt over the area. Anyway, they were to come Friday to pick up the excess dirt, but called and said it will be next week before they come out to get it. It's just one small thing, so it is not a big issue at this point.
