"Home Doctor strives to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality workmanship. Unfortunately, this review is quite surprising and disappointing on many levels. In regards to the deck not being the correct width, [member name removed] ( homeowner ) had asked for easier access to her shed since the old deck width had inhibited the ability to access and use the shed properly. We suggested to her scaling the deck back to the front of the shed which would make the original deck width slightly smaller but allow the access she was looking for. This was discussed in person and we showed her exactly where the deck would end. [member name removed] agreed it was good solution. In response to the gutter leaking unfortunately we were not made aware of this. If [member name removed] had reached out to us regarding the problem we would have happily rectify it. It's a simple 10 minute fix. In response to the electrical wire: There were many wires on the ground under the deck that were clearly not up to code. [member name removed] was made aware of this and shown. We carefully removed any construction debris that was our responsibility to the best of our ability and were not aware of any of those wires being spliced. However, we had personally asked [member name removed] to get a licensed electrician to come in and look at the wiring in and around the house because of all the safety issues we saw. She is merely assuming we are responsible for a this however it was a safety issue from day one we made her aware of. As for the whole deck being Trek material: Her total budget for the project $8500 not just the deck. Since the budget included removing a roof over the old deck and disassembling the entire old deck and installing new supporting beams as well as removing all the old material debris from the site. The price of the Trek decking material without any labor was more money than what [member name removed] had budgeted for. I discussed with [member name removed] a solution which was agreed upon. The solution was a Trek floor and wood/metal railing system. The end result was a beautiful deck that greatly improved the exterior of her home & that [member name removed] had led us to believe she was very happy with. I would also like to express that the house is built on the side of a mountain and each footing had to be redone. When we started work on the footings it became clear that each footing needed to be pinned to bedrock underneath. This pinning was done at a courtesy and at no additional charge although it equated to many additional hours of labour."
