I just want to compliment Dave and his crew on a wonderful job. The craftsmanship is outstanding.
I was pleased when I first got the very reasonable estimate and read great reviews from Angies List and Dorado Soapstone.
This is a very, very old house and they needed to spend an extra day here, travelling from Rhode Island because the kitchen sink cabinet needed to be completely rebuilt to accommodate the heavy stone sink and the cabinets needed a little shoring up.
Having had some very expensive extras with contractors before this, I was expecting a possible whammy...none came. I actually had to ask for the bill before they left. Dave explained every charge which came to less than $300.00, way, way less than I expected.
I had a small issue with the sprayer leaking, Dave came right out and fixed it. He even went down cellar and turned off my
outside spigot for me...good thing because it would have frozen in this weather.
My counters are beautiful and I would hire these guys again in a minute!

We had soapstone counters installed in our kitchen. David worked closely with me to ensure that we had the proper stone picked out and that we had the right time to install it. He was very understanding of the delays we hit and he made sure that we got our counters installed at the earliest possible time. He's a wonderful person to deal with.
And the counters look great! The team was awesome - my general contractor (who is also awesome - review coming when they are done) worked quite well with them. Overall just a pleasant experience. If I ever need countertops, I'll hire CNE again and I'll be sure to recommend them to anyone and everyone.

If you are going to get soapstone countertops for your kitchen (or anywhere else for that matter), you HAVE to use this company! I can't say enough about the speed of response, the efficiency, the professionalism, and the quality of their work. They "Aced" all categories! Not to mention they are very personable! If you are considering having a granite installer install your soapstone, you should think again. Very few know how to really install soapstone. This company ONLY does soapstone and they do it very well. They sand all edges and top to the perfect finish. They can follow the curve of any configuration. Seams (the fewest possible) are almost invisible. I wish I could show you a picture here of my kitchen now. Every person that comes into the house stops at the entrance to the kitchen and just says "WOW". The clincher is that you do not have to wait several weeks to get your dream countertop installed. They are the ONLY company that does it on site-template to install-in just a couple of days!

I contacted this contractor after Best Tile continued to delay my order by months. I called on Wednesday and the following Saturday they were on-site fabricating and installing. Everything done the same day and they came out beautiful. It was the same price as Best Tile. These are the only people I would consider for soapstone.

After our previous stone person botched the job and then disappeared, leaving us without a functional bathroom, we called Benjamin Brushette and asked for help, telling him of our predicament and that we needed them to come in and re-do the work ASAP. Benjamin was incredibly responsive. He got just the stone we wanted, did a very careful template, was extremely friendly, and got the job done in record time. We could not have been happier.

They were amazing!! The place we picked out our soapstone slabs (Dorado) said they were the absolute best people to go with, and they were right. We sent photos and plans of our kitchen to Dave, scheduled the best time, and he showed up with the slabs we picked out. Tim (his brother) set up in our driveway, while we went over the details of the curves and layout with Dave. They templated and cut the slabs in our driveway, and brought them in to fit and install. Any issues or questions were dealt with immediately and professionally. Dave's son, Matt, came the second day, and they finished the job, cleaned up and left us with countertops beyond our expectations, on budget, and in less than 2 days from start to finish.

The only caveat (and it was our fault, not theirs) is that if you want a special cut, like a bullnose edge , let them know in advance. Dave needs special tools to do this. He seemed glad to do it if he has the tools - but he needs to know in advance.

Showed up on time, created the templates and cut the stone on site. Managed through some unexpected installation issues due to the cabinets. Since Dave is a master carpenter, he helped resolve the issue and the installation went smoothly. If you're installing soapstone in New England, there's nobody better.

WOW!!! Dave is not a soapstone "fabricator" or "installer" he is a soapstone "ARTIST". This guy is amazing. Along with his brother Tim and his son Matt, they created a soapstone masterpiece in our kitchen. First called Dave about a month ago and he returned my call the same day. It was clear how much of an expert he was just by our phone conversation. We had a specific pattern of soapstone we wanted and Dave made the effort to photograph several slabs and send them to us for review. We have a central island that is the focus in the kitchen and Dave offered to let us be involved with the orientation of the veins, the design of the overhang, the treatment of the corners and edges. My wife and I have a very good design sense but every suggestion Dave made, we followed, and could not be happier. He even fabricated the stone such that the major vein in the slab looks as if it is running right into our bar sink!! BRILLIANT!!

From a technical standpoint, the guys "rough cut" our pieces down in RI and cut all the sink openings and finished the edges on site. Everyone who walked by was impressed with the whole process. The size of our countertops necessitated two seams and Dave took the time to match the veins and create a precise seam between the pieces. My wife didn't even know there was a seam and the joints are truly imperceivable.

Dave also had the accumen to point out that one of our cabinets was malaligned by the kitchen cabinet company and this would impact the centerline of our sink and faucet. The average goy would have drilled the holes, collected his check and hope that no one noticed! Dave alerted us to this and we will soon have the cabinets realigned. Dave will need to cut another piece to fix the kitchen installers snafu but we are so confident it will look equally amazing that we have no concerns about the end result.

In summary, if you want soapstone in your kitchen, bath or elsewhere there is only one outfit you should consider...Central New England Soapstone. Anyone else might be "OK" with granite or marble but if you love soapstone and have any degree of exactitude in your personality, Dave is the only guy to use.

Dave was referred to me by a local soapstone supplier. He returned calls and was very responsive. I emailed him a drawing of my kitchen layout and within a couple days he emailed me an estimate and purchase agreement. The team dropped off the stone and supplies to my house the night before the scheduled work. The next day they were there early (8am), ready to start. The counter tops were measured, fabricated, and installed by 4pm. AND the work was beautiful!!! The guys were friendly and very professional. I would recommend them to anyone wanting soapstone counter tops.

Our correspondence with Dave started after he was recommended to us from a local soapstone dealer. From the very beginning, Dave was very responsive and helpful to our questions and concerns. He submitted a proposal to us in a timely manner and, once we came to an agreement, a date was set for the work to be done.

We chose Dave and Central New England Soapstone because we've read wonderful and positive reviews/experiences from online kitchen forums. In addition, they are the only counter top stone fabricators we have come across who does the templating, fabricating, and installing in ONE day.

Our work was scheduled for 12/15, and Dave and his brother Tim showed in the early AM. There was concern whether they would be able to finish in one day, but they worked non-stop from 9am - 4pm. And it was both windy and cold out.. with periods of rain. Because of their tireless effort, they were able to have our beautiful soapstone counter tops installed in one day.

Both Dave and Tim were very professional and very personable. They were neat and efficient. Any worries about ugly seams were dissipated when we saw the finished product. The counter tops came out beautiful.

If we were to do another kitchen renovation, we would hire them again in a heartbeat.

The owner is Dave Brushaett and the manager is Darryl. I knew I wanted soapstone from the beginning. I got seven pieces of countertops from them. I spent $3946 for the work. I shopped around for prices and quality. Another soapstone company recommended them to me. After I spoke to the owner and the manager, they told me that they had the stones that they could also sell to me. They told me that they could come onsite, so that, I could pick a particular piece of stone where I wanted it installed. I wanted the grains and the quartz in the stone in particular areas. That is the reason I went with them. The other companies I had contacted could only make the countertops in-house and drop them off at my house. I wasn’t comfortable with that because I wanted to be part of the decision-making process. With them, I got to choose the stone and I got choose how it was cut. I couldn’t be happier with the final product. They cut it in my driveway. I was blown away with the entire process. However, they weren’t very punctual in the initial days. I will definitely use them again in the future.
