The information provided by the branch manager and loan officer was not consistent with the policies of the NFCU loan department. Although they are quick in approving your line of credit, you may not get the special rate of 3% for a month. The documents you sign have a rate of 16.9%. You are forced to choose between not using the funds for up to 30 days to have the 3% rate apply or using the funds when approved and paying 16.9%. I you request increase in limit, the interest rate automatically reverts to 16.9%. I found the rates charged by NFCU to be as high as commerical big banks and not competitive with other credit unions. The purpose of credit unions is to serve the members. I wonder where NFCU is spending all the profits from their high rates on credit cards and loans.

Navy Federal Credit Union are almost non-corporate which is great. They try to take care of whatever your needs are: if they can't then they try to direct you. They are very good. The staff has always been very knowledgeable and very prompt. They take care of whatever issues you may have. They aren't quite up to the speed of the banks. Deposits may take a couple of days to be accessible. But you can take a picture of your check on your phone and make a deposit that way, which is pretty fantastic.

I am very happy with them. I like that they are very responsible and their security is good like if anything happen they call and let me know. I like to keep mortgage with them like if I have to buy a car or anything I would like to keep everything together with them. I joined them because at that time it was the best plan I could find through my husband as he was in the Navy and they were taking only Navy people but now they take everybody. I like the experience with them. I would recommend them to anybody. They don't charge for registration, don't charge cheque and can take how many ever cheque's you want. They are really good.
