Bob Klein Windows & Doors

Bob is a very nice man, quite capable, and if anything, was reluctant to commit to repairs as extensive as I requested. He suggested intermediate solutions to try first. He was in no hurry to spend my money.







The only issue was his quote was for an hourly rate. In the end, I paid by the day. It was hardly worth quibbling about. We were happy with him and the work done to our specifications.

We used all Andersen windows which I believe is the best window for the money. Great warranty from a national manufacturer.

I did not belong to Angies List then, but I wanted to submit this review now, a year later, so I can share my positive experience that I had with Robert Klein.
Newly installed Windows performed very well. Doors closed and locked perfectly, like never before.
I contract Bob to come back to do various windows and door jobs over a period of 2-3 years. Each time we were very satisfied with his work and the Andersen products.

All aspects of the new window installation could not have gone better. For starters, Bob was highly recommended by a large multi-store window/door supplier in the tri-state area. When we first reached out to him, he promptly returned the call and came out to meet us and see the areas of proposed installs. Bob was clearly knowledgeable about window installations (it was clear he's been in the windows installation business for years) and gave us excellent advice in our consideration of different types of windows, including what types of windows could work in the space and the options we should consider.
Bob took all the measurements himself, double-checking certain areas as he went along - he then provided the detailed measurements and interests to the windows supplier. Then, Bob had us arrange the purchase with the window supplier directly, this had the benefit of making it clear that he was not marking up any of the window pricing - we paid exactly what the supplier sells the window at. Bob was flexible and worked with our schedule, arranging for an install day the very next week. (We were pleasantly surprised by the quick turnaround).
On the day of install, Bob and his assistant arrived on time (calling in advance to let us know exactly when he'd arrive). When the window supplier failed to deliver a few pieces (the bay window roof and screens; the window supplier didn't even let us know in advance they wouldn't be delivered), Bob came to the rescue - he personally drove to the factory where the roof was made and picked it up. In fact, when we found out the specs were off - Bob drove back to the factory to pick-up the corrected roof.
Bob really impressed us when we saw the standard molding to be installed (a stock white molding - it was nice, but just didn't match our existing kitchen moldings), Bob was really nice about it - he drove one of us to the lumber yard, let us pick out the molding we wanted and drove it to our house and installed it. And Bob didn't require an initial payment until he started, which gave us comfort (given a past experience with another contractor).
Most importantly, the quality of Bob's work is excellent - the windows appear to fit quite well, with no seams - the frames, bay window roof and windows all appear to be tightly coupled together. The adjustments he needed to make to the plaster surroundings were done very cleanly, with minimal impact to the surrounding material. The windows open and close easily. The molding cuts are clean and fit together well - and his extra effort to trim the moldings to fit our cabinets are spot on.
