Prompt response, excellent work. Didn't try to up sell me despite my needing more work done eventually. Personable guys, didn't mind my hovering a bit. Explained the issues and what the problem(s) were. Very knowledgeable. Very reasonably priced and i would hire again and plan to.

Horrible. I asked about the deal they had, Totally ignored me. Charged me to open the pool plus $95/hour to pump water off the cover. The total cost was almost $600. I have never paid this much to open my pool. In addition - my pool was not cleaned. I called to have them come back to clean the pool - but they were too busy. I will NEVER use them again.
Response from Jay's Precision Pool Service
"It is certainly disappointing when a consumer feels they did not receive the service they expected. In this case the customer had not opened the pool for several seasons. The pool had been neglected for reasons that were of a personal nature. The cover had been damaged and allowed several pounds of debris into the pool. The customer was advised at the time of service that additional charges would apply and that this was not a "routine" pool opening. Some of the filter system parts were damaged or missing and required replacement. Additional chemicals needed to be added to clean the dirty water. The customer also requested to have the slide removed and disposed of which was also completed. The pool required extensive cleaning and multiple visits that our schedule could not accommodate in time for the customer to list the home for sale."

Had some problem reaching Jay by phone, but he responded immediately to an email via Angie's List. We also had to reschedule the first appointment because his prior job took longer than expected. Other than that, it was a great experience. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. Prices are reasonable, and he doesn't recommend repairs that aren't necessary. Definitely a better experience than dealing with the corporate-owned pool companies.

Other providers gave us prices to repair the unit, but didn't identify all the problems that it had.  Jay did a much better job of assessing our situation, and saved us money by being honest with us.  He took the time to explain the actual condition of our hot tub to us in a manner that we could understand.

Immediately upon arrival his assessment determined that a key part was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. it was later found to have a crack which was not possible to visualize from the outside. While he replaced this, his assistant was working around the pool which required removing dead leaves and acorns from the bottom. As Jay tested the new part he pulled apart the flywheel (?) which had never  been done in 35 years and found debris build up which kept it from operating properly. He cleaned this with much effort. Meanwhile his assistant added needed chlorine and algaecide. This was, by far, the best pool service I have ever encountered. he was here 1.5 hours and only charged for an hour and between the two men did far more than expected. Jay is experienced, fair and I recommend him highly.

This was a big job that not many pool service companies could or would want to tackle.  I have an 18' x 36' inground pool that is 20 years old.  When the pool was originally installed by Apple Pools in 1995, they used flexible PVC pipe for all the underground plumbing.  The problem is that the soil is very sandy where I live with lots of pine trees which makes for ideal conditions for termites.  Over the years, termites were chewing tiny pin holes into the flexible PVC piping which was causing loss of pressure and water.  It got progressively worse each year to the point where something had to be done.  Jay provided me with a very detailed proposal and explained clearly what he would have to do to in order to replace the plumbing with rigid PVC pipe which termites cannot chew through.  The work required a number of  'windows' to be cut into the concrete around the pool in order to access all the ports and allow for lengths of rigid PVC to be installed.  It also required a trench to be dug(2' deep x 16" wide) along the length of the pool just outside the fence to accommodate the new pipe lines.  I ended up doing the trench digging and Jay worked with me to reduce my bill accordingly.  As the work began, a crack was found in the skimmer so that had to be replaced.  After 4 or 5 visits, all the new piping was installed along with all new valves.  It was the first time I had ever seen the pump run with absolutely no air bubbles, not mention no more loss of water.  Once Jay was confident that everything was working, he gave me the green light to start filling in the trench and his guys came back and replaced the open areas with concrete.  He also repaired areas around the pool where the liner had come out of the track and replaced my light fixture which hadn't worked for years. If you need any degree of service work performed on your pool, look no further than Jay's Precision Pool Service.

Jay was very helpful and kind explaining what we needed to do to get our pool working.  Between seeing the pool open and closing on the house, we had a terrarium with lots of tadpoles.  He has been very helpful installing some equipment and explaining to us how to maintain the pool.  He is very busy and can arrive off-schedule, but we are happy with our service and expect to continue to use him.

We pre-paid the $39.00 service call fee through Angie's List and were never told throughout the email communication that the opening of the pool was not a "service call."  After he opened the pool, we were presented with an invoice for approximately $230.00.  We paid the invoice.  Then, Jay told us that we were going to need a new pool cover and that the would get us a quote for one.  It is now June 29, 2015, and we never heard back from him
Not only was the fee for opening my pool excessive (in my opinion), but I found fault in his other business practices, too, including:  (a) failure to advise us (as first time customers) what the cost or estimated cost of the pool opening would be; and (b) failure to get back to us with a quote regarding the pool cover.

Response from Jay's Precision Pool Service
"I personally met with the homeowner at the time of service. At no time did ([Member Name Removed]) express concern that the service was not performed to expectation. In fact he expressed gratitude that we showed up on time and performed the service in a much more thorough manner than a previous pool service had. We did furnish an estimate at the time of service to replace the damaged safety cover and agreed that it would be sent out in the month of July to the factory to obtain an exact quote. I must say I am surprised at this review and would have expected to hear from the customer by direct communication if there was a concern that needed to be addressed. I take great pride in the service my Company provides and the satisfaction of my customers."

It was ok, I don't think I got what the deal was, cleaning filter, checking levels etc... Just a "quickie". Somewhat disappointed. Perhaps their forte` is in pools. Real nice guys though.

I have had a nightmare of a pool owning experience.  Over the 4yrs of owning this pool everything has been replaced due to every reason possible.  The work performed has always been substandard, people having to come back out and fix their mistakes, excuses, after excuses. NEVER EVER USE ISLANDER POOLS.
I called Jay after looking on Angies List.  He came out looked at the pool, called me and told me what he thought.  Set up a time, came out and fixed every bodies mistakes for less than what he quoted me.  Professional, courteous, very reasonably priced.  I will never call or recommend anybody else.  Jay is my pool guy.

My in-ground pool was having a few issues that took a couple of visits to repair. Jay was very responsive and precise with his diagnosis and repairs. He is very friendly and personable and knowledgable. I could only give him bizarre happenings and he repaired several issues - a few of which needed parts to be ordered. Considering all the work he did and the new parts I needed, and the fact that it works correctly again, the price is very reasonable. I previously had several people take a look at it with no success. I have had this pool for 40+ years and Jay is by far the best I have encountered. He is a keeper!
