Why an F? F for Failed communication; I spent more than 5K at that store and the sales guy would not talk to me after the sale was completed? I tried 3 times to get an additional quote for a fireplace hood and DID NOT GET IT. Beware!. I wanted a hood because he overestimated the power of my unit and advised that using it full power would burn my house down. Great! I bought a BMW but should use it as beetle (bVW). Even with an adapter that was provided I felt the need for a hood because of the excessive heat above the fireplace. Just wanted peace of mind. As mentioned, they installed an adaptor to reduce the gas flow. First call, he told me he would use my wife`s email (on file) to send the information; Second call, I left my number with the secretary and he did not call me back. No information or quote received. Third call, again I was informed the sales guy was busy. I demanded for attention. I said? I spent a lot of money with Matchless and I need attention?. A lady told me he would send the information that afternoon. I am still waiting. Now it is too late, I do not want to talk to them anymore. Now I am interested in understanding why Matchless does not want to talk me. Is there a problem with the project/equipment that was sold to me? I will find out, not happy now.
i have not heard from the company regarding repair cost nor replacement cost of gas log unit.
arranged the appointment to the actual service personnel. Came on
time. Put down drop clothes and didn't get floor or house messy AT ALL,
which is impressive considering the line of work they do. They also
cleaned outside of our fireplace without me even asking, which was just a
nice touch. We've had them do work for us in the past and they have
always been punctual, professional and well priced. Very pleased with
their work and will always use them in the future.
Very professional
Installation included cleaning-out the fireplace, running electricity to the fireplace unit, running gas to the fireplace unit, and installing air intake and exhaust lines through the existing chimney. The installation was completed in about 4 hours. I personally inspected all of the electrical and gas work and found the work to be first rate.
While demonstrating the operation of the unit to me, a problem was discovered that, initially, seemed minor. A set of lights that provide and quot;moodand quot; (for lack of a better word) lighting to the inside of the unit would not turn on. The installers spent a total of about 5 hours (longer than it took to install the unit) attempting to diagnose and rectify the problem. It was discovered, also, in the process of trying to correct the problem, that the unit's fan did not work. During this time, they completely removed and replaced the unit in the fireplace twice while changing-out parts, the entire time working in a very professional manner. Also, during this time, several calls back to the shop were made for information and advice and, at one point, a courier from Matchless was actually sent out to our house with a box-full of potentially needed replacement parts for the installers to try. Ultimately, after 5-hours of efforts, the installers concluded that the unit was defective and that a replacement unit would need to be installed. They told me that someone would contact me the next day to discuss the situation.
Although I was not displeased at the installers' efforts, I was a little skeptical at this point and planned to call Matchless myself first thing the next morning when they opened at 8:00 am. The next morning, however, at a few minutes after 8:00 am, even before I had a chance to call them, I received a call from the installation manager at Matchless who told me that a brand new unit would be brought out and installed and he asked if they could do the work that morning. I agreed and by about 10:00 am, the installers were at the house with a brand new unit (which they had already assembled at the shop and tried-out, to confirm that it worked properly) and they promptly removed the defective unit and installed the new unit, which worked perfectly fine.
Overall, we're extremely happy with the unit and the manner in which Matchless dealt with the problem. By handling the problem professionally and quickly and with our complete satisfaction in mind, Matchless turned what could potentially have been a bad experience into a very positive one.
