We chose Matchless a few months ago after receiving three quotes to do an installation of a gas fireplace insert into our 1870 home. All three proposed the exact same insert model. We chose Matchless because they performed a detailed analysis to produce the quote and offered six month 0% financing. Matchless was not the least expensive quote we received ... we chose them because they offered professionalism AND a reasonable quote. We had numerous preparatory discussions with their engineer at the office (John) ... he was always available and returned calls promptly. John was a good indication of what was to come at installation time. The installers arrived at the promised date/time. In short, this installation (the marble fireplace) presented numerous difficulties (removing the existing glued-on and bolted cast iron insert INTACT, integrating both gas and electric in the basement and ensuring that the new insert fit well). The difficulties presented by this old home were no match for Shane. He faced each difficulty with absolute professionalism. The installation consumed the entire day. We closely watched the entire process as we were concerned about preserving the existing insert as well as preserving the marble fireplace - all went well. We could not be more satisfied with how Matchless performed for us. We called and thanked Bill, their General Manager and offered our gratitude to an excellent company.

The technician was great (Jesse), and the work was done well. The issue is with the customer service provided by the representative taking my phone call to make an appointment, as she didn't listen to my issue and it cost me extra money for two visits, when the problem had been identified in the past, and could have been addressed in one visit with a $36 part and service fee. The manager apologized, but didn't make it right, instead promising to do better next time. Unfortunately, we will have to look elsewhere for our service in the future.

Installation was well done and the installers were knowledgeable about the product. I did not care for the hearth options they had so I had a hearth stone custom cut and I installed it. Also, the quote for the chimney repairs that were needed was almost twice what was quoted by to other highly rated masons. Based on this I subcontracted the masonry work to another company.

The worker arrived on time, put down cloths to protect room. Did wonderful job cleaning a never-serviced, 16 year-old gas fireplace. Dissembled heavy cast iron front. Cleaned fogged windows. He was courteous and well-spoken.

Why an F? F for Failed communication; I spent more than 5K at that store and the sales guy would not talk to me after the sale was completed?  I tried 3 times to get an additional quote for a fireplace hood and DID NOT GET IT. Beware!.  I wanted a hood because he overestimated the power of my unit and advised that using it full power would burn my house down. Great! I bought a BMW but should use it as beetle (bVW). Even with an adapter that was provided I felt the need for a hood because of the excessive heat above the fireplace. Just wanted peace of mind. As mentioned, they installed an adaptor to reduce the gas flow. First call, he told me he would use my wife`s email (on file) to send the information; Second call, I left my number with the secretary and he did not call me back. No information or quote received. Third call, again I was informed the sales guy was busy. I demanded for attention. I said? I spent a lot of money with Matchless and I need attention?. A lady told me he would send the information that afternoon. I am still waiting. Now it is too late, I do not want to talk to them anymore. Now I am interested in understanding why Matchless does not want to talk me. Is there a problem with the project/equipment that was sold to me? I will find out, not happy now.

We had our wood stove cleaned and repaired by Northeastern, but they failed to clean it properly.  Matchless performed and completed the job professionally and with excellent skill.

went very well, service men were clean, neat and considerate of where they were working...
i have not heard from the company regarding repair cost nor replacement cost of gas log unit.

After a few weeks, the unit stopped working so I called Matchless and, after trying a couple things they suggested that didn't work, they agreed to send a technician to check the unit. I had to wait a couple weeks for the technician but once he came, the fix was minor and everything's worked fine since then.

They were on time, efficient and met all local city building codes.

The chimney cleaning was to be done on my rental house. I can conclude from the experience that Matchless Stove and Chimney over charges for his services. He asked 141 percent more that I paid for the same job. I have two chimneys on my house in Bethel Ct. and there the chimney cleaning for both is $209.00. I do not recommend dealing with Matchless Stove and Chimney due to their overcharging and their lack of accommodation to the customer..

Everyone I dealt with was very professional. I felt that the company takes the time to work with you, and within your price range, offering a number of options. The estimate, and installation was done in a very timely fashion. The installers were efficient and neat. Follow up was provided after the service was performed. I am very satisfied with all that Matchless had to offer. I would definitely recommend

The service people are meticulous about protecting the house. They get the work done and they leave the house clean when they are finished.

Talked it over with my husband and decided to get other estimates since $4,500 seemed way too high. Got two other chimney companies in and they felt only the first 6 or 7 rows of bricks needed repair or replacement. Went with a company that gave a $600 estimate and they did a great job!
