Pavers and Hardscaping Service
$23,600
The work performed by Scott Barnard was originally to include take down of existing wooden deck, stone patio, and outdoor kitchen with refrigerator, sink, ice well, and grill, and a stone walkway from the driveway to the backyard. The winter of 2012 was very mild and the work started early with the intended completion date of May 2012. That date was "guaranteed" because I wanted to host my daughter's Wedding Shower. That date came and went. I had to move my daughter's Wedding Shower to a different location. There were intervals of time when he failed to show up for weeks. Many excuses ranging from loss of crew, to his wife's illness and need to stay at home to watch his children. As the summer wore on and the project idled. He was also contracted to cut my lawn and provide landscape services. He would mow my lawn, and then just leave. Eventually he came back and completed the work, EXCEPT for the walkway, which he never even attempted to start. He brought his father with him to put the ceramic top on my L-shaped outdoor kitchen. He told me his father was an "expert". When he finally completed the work almost 6 months later, the summer was for all intents and purposes, was over. The stone patio he put in stands but the floor is uneven and slopes toward the house; rather than away from it as you would expect. Water accumulates. The filler used between the stone was not properly sealed and I personally had to replace it. I terminated his lawn mowing and snow plowing contract. He became angry and would text me that the "hack and clown" that I hired from my neighborhood to do the work, Scott Barnard formerly did, made my lawn "the laughing stock of the neighborhood".
Now it is 18 months since the kitchen was "completed". I had a custom cover made for the kitchen in New York City, that would preserve the quality and the surfaces. Yesterday, 10 May 2014, I did my spring cleaning and when I removed the custom cover, I found two stress cracks that basically split the wall of my kitchen into thirds, the fracture actually split the stones that made up the outer surface of the kitchen in half! The splits run from top to bottom and appears that Scott Barnard did not build enough of a foundation to allow for settling anf the granite top and the ceramic extension's weight may have been too much for the wall.
Scott Barnard brought his father in on the job. The "expert ceramic work" is now falling off the face of the bar, and lifting off the top of the ceramic bar.
I texted him about the problem and in response, he told me," I am busy for the next year taking care of my LOYAL customers." He then went on to tell me to "contact Adams Nursery and /or the hack who mows my lawn" to fix his mistakes and oversights. He then signed off.
After paying Scott Barnard in excess off $35,000.00 for work done over a two year period, I would expect him to act professionally and make the repairs.
