"Job was completed in short order. Basement is completely, FRP paneling was installed and looks great throughout. My only complaint is that there was a ton of concrete dust left behind, both in the basement and tracked through the family room. I would still recommend them."

STR Structural Solutions is a structural contracting company that specializes in load bearing component replacement, repair and new install. We lift and level our project to ensure the load transfers to our new steel products. We have done structural repairs to other contractors projects where they fail to lift the structure onto the repair. The point of buying a post or a beam is to have it fabricated at the right height, not just install or shore up damaged beams, this is a waste of time and money. With STR you will know with confidence, that our Structural Solutions will get you back on track. Rot, Rust, Deflection, Collapse we fix it all!

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small systems like French drains. Professional installation ensures proper grading and long-term effectiveness.

Proper drainage prevents water damage, mold growth, and foundation settling, protecting your home’s structural integrity.

Grinder pumps alone cost $300 on average. The average cost to install a new grinder pump is between $2,000 and $4,000, including the pump and labor. This price can also change based on the exact type of grinder pump you choose, labor costs in your area, and the power system your home currently has.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

Whether to waterproof your basement from the interior or exterior depends on several factors, including your budget.

Exterior waterproofing is generally considered the superior method because it stops water at the source, preventing it from seeping into and damaging your basement walls. This approach offers the most protection, making it ideal if you use your basement for storage.

By contrast, interior waterproofing is often less expensive and requires less labor because the area is more accessible.

For maximum protection against water leakage and moisture, applying waterproofing measures to both the inside and outside is the best solution. However, if you must choose only one, stopping water from the outside is the most effective approach to preserve your foundation and prevent damage.
