The inspection was done and it was determined that work was not needed at this time. It's obvious that this contractor has many years of experience and is honest and ethical. MJ Castano is a consummate professional. I could not be happier with my new front steps and walkway! He finished the job on time and on budget. In fact, he even put in a drainage pipe to help redirect storm water away from the steps so they last for years to come. Work was done well and what was done looks good. The spacing between the blocks is less than the original which looks better but this resulted in the need for more blocks. I purchased additional blocks so that they could complete the border on one side but the other side is borderless. The job was supposed to have the walkway look the same once completed. Also, the material used in between the blocks has come out and popped up in places. I texted a couple of times to have it fixed but to no avail

Work was excellent and responsive to all questions. There was misunderstanding in what was expected, but it was immediately resolved.

Great. There was some things which became obvious once the work stated, for example the old patio and the new addition had been poorly attached. Manuel fixed that as well as the poor drainage in front of the porch and brought it all up to code

MJ Castano Contracting did an superb job on the wall in my driveway. They are trustworthy and professional.  They explained the correct way  to do the repair was to install wire for  reinforcement  because the block was not in good condition.  Very satisfied with the repair and the price was fair.  I would definitely recommend this company to perform any masonry work!

Manny was fantastic!  I had my chimney repaired 2 and a half years prior and got ripped off.  So when I was able to afford to repair it again I got 3 estimates all for $2500 dollars!  They all assured me that the cracking of the stucco will not happen again.  A friend of mine said she had a great mason and gave me Manny's number.  So I called, enjoyed speaking with him and looking forward to his estimate.  Well to my surprise his estimate was $2000 dollars more then the other 3!  I liked him so much I called and asked if he could come back and discuss the job.

I came straight out and said I really like you can you explain why your $2000 higher then 3 other estimates?  He said of course, do you have a ladder.  So I gave him the ladder and he climbed to the top.  He knocked on the chimney and said do you hear this and I replied yep sounds hollow.  He climbed down the chimney and while coming down he kept knocking on the chimney and said keep listening, finally the hollow sound stopped.  I said so what does that mean?  He replied I am going to knock the chimney down 10 feet and rebuild it and then stucco the whole chimney.  The other guys are going to do what the first guy did, chip off the stucco and re stucco it and in 6 months it will happen again.

Needless to say Manny rebuilt my chimney and 5 years later still beautiful!  It pays to ask why if someone is higher and not to always go with the less expensive contractor.

Manny and his crew were early everyday for work and stayed late to finish the job on the promised date.
