ed We were told it would take only one day. It did! (They warned us to leave for the day because of the noise - we didn't, but definitely should have - it is NOISY.) They came at 8 AM as we were told. They covered the shrubbery with tarps, went on the roof and started removing the shingles. A dumpster appeared at 9 AM, as I was told. The work - removing the old and replacing with new materials went on until 7:30 PM, when they were finished. (My neighbor came over and told me he had never seen contractors place plywood under the metal wheels of the dumpster before - he was impressed.) They had a ladder with a sort of elevator on it so they could get the materials on the roof. I was impressed. I was told the owner was hunting down a skylight to replace the one I had which we agreed, in the contract, to replace - I just know it was installed by the time the job was declared finished. They had suggested we leave because of the noise - we stayed, I wanted to stick around in case the owner, me, was needed. I am happy we stayed, though I wasn't needed. It was, understandably, VERY noisy. If you can't stand loud noises - make other plans! I was VERY impressed with their professionalism. The work we had agreed to was done at the agreed to price. I had been told there was no way of knowing which plywood boards on the roof would need to be replaced until the shingles had been removed. Another roofer had just said he would replace ALL the plywood. As it turned out almost 1/2 of my roof's plywood had to be replaced. At $50/sheet this is not welcome,but I was shown the wood that was removed - it was in bad shape. I was told the carting company would remove the dumpster on Monday - the job was done on Friday. The carting company did not appear on Monday. I called the office manager and she arranged to have it picked up that day - that was the carter's fault. We are very satisfied with the job that has been done. I was very impressed by the professionalism of everyone at the job site. The foreman was outstanding. The Office manager, terrific. (A full roof had been installed 17 years previously by Model A Roofing. The roof SHOULD have lasted at least 25 years. I blame the short-lived roof on them and am going to put in a separate review.)
