About us
From the very beginning, Mastercraft Remodeling has built it's reputation by word of mouth. We honor that trust and commitment by providing the highest quality service , skill and materials to each project...large and small... at the right price....for exclusively one customer at a time. Carmine and Lou started by covering all the furniture and tenting the area to prevent dust from escaping the work area. The end of the day the area was swept clean. Carmine explained each step of the remodel and what to expect. He also helped us with vendors tile ,appliances etc. and with the other trades plumbing and electric. He helped my wife with what the new area would look like and made her part of the process. As a new part of the project was completed my wife would say " I LOVE IT ". We all would say it at the completion of each phase. Carmine and Lou were a pleasure to work with . They work like they are working on their own homes. They do it right the first time and stand by their work. We would recommend them for any phase of your home improvements .
"This family was a pleasure and a joy to work for. There was excellent communication , and very timely decisions made each step of the way. We were happy to help with any extra discounts from each of our suppliers, and we were able to work seamlessly with their custom cabinet expert. As with most remodeling projects, there were some structural and design challenges, but together we came up with just the right cost-effective solutions, and the project moved forward without delays. I would be very lucky to have the opportunity to work with them again, on any of their future remodeling projects. Each day we would all wait to hear the daily review of our work . After her exacting scrutiny, the "Mrs." would hopefully proclaim in her very unique style... ...."I LOVE it !!" ,,,,,,,Couldn't ask for more !!! :)"

"Thank you so much for the follow up review on AngiesList. I was my great pleasure to work for such a wonderful family through a particularly challenging remodel. Even though this house revealed more issues than either of us could have anticipated, we were able to collaborate smoothly on each of the solutions. I was glad to have the opportunity to work with you daily . Although it took a few months longer to correct all those issues and to made it a solid ,more energy efficient , and well designed house, you recognized the value of those changes , and then made into a beautiful home....complete with a new arrival ! This was another classic example of how a great working relationship can produce a unique remodeling project for such a fine growing family. Our team would be very happy to work for you again , should you want or need our services. Regards and all of life's best. ~ Carmine and the crew at Mastercraft"
He continued the process by having all his various subcontractors visit our house for thorough walk through to provide input into the quote he was preparing. When we got the quote, it was detailed and thorough, covering all jobs we had laid out. 15 or so pages of detail. Pricing was broken down by job (i.e. Plumbing $x, Electrical $y).
We had competing quotes and feedback from family in the construction industry - and based on that we felt the prices Carmine charged were reasonable and reflective of the work. The results were always high quality and professionally executed, problems fixed promptly without any drama, all without cutting corners and going the extra mile. To be clear- Carmine is unlikely to be your cheapest option. But this is a classic example of "you get what you pay for. " Outstanding service and solid quality workmanship.
Positive end-results were also true of Carmine's sub-contractors. They were all "pros"; licensed and insured where needed. We used quite a few of them- HVAC, Roofer, Plumber, Insulator (spray foam), Electrician, Stair rail maker, Cabinet maker, Sheetrock / Spackle, painter, and flooring guy. Most he'd worked with for years if not decades and he had good relationships with them to get things done quickly and to high quality standards. And Carmine worked hand-in-hand with them to get it each job done to his standards, and problems tackled in real-time.
Carmine has his own crew of guys that cover carpentry and tile work generally, and we found their work to be meticulous and high quality. As I mentioned, Carmine is very hands-on and consistently on the job site, leading the projects and getting his hands dirty. Some examples- the orchestration required to maneuver and install a 25 foot-long, 12" x 8" steel I-beam in our living room ceiling. He also worked smoothly with our architect to understand exact specifications to ensure we pass bldg dept home inspections with flying colors (which we always did, without fail).
As far as tiles, Carmine himself spent hours in our bathtub laying subway tile, meticulously aligned with laser levels. Really outstanding attention to detail and results as you can see pictured. He suggested using epoxy grout, which is the "best" you can do thanks to its ability to resist stain and durability, but is notoriously difficult to work with. Throughout the project he routinely sticks his neck out like this, tells you "its what I'd do in my own house", and delivers a premium job.
Another example- after we had tiled, we realized a medicine cabinet opening inset in the wall was set 5 inches too low. Rather than trying to convince us to live with it, he insisted on going ahead and fixing it (reframing and re-tiling that section) without charging us for it. He said it wouldn't look right. Impressive again.
In general, we can't say enough good things about Carmine. Integrity, honesty, incredibly patient and easy to work with, and if that weren't enough he's more accessible than I can really describe. Always returns calls, emails, texts usually within hours, day or night, even weekends. I just cross my fingers he's available when we're ready to the outside of our house in a year or two, but I would not be surprised if we need to get in line. He's that good.
Surviving a 9-month long gut renovation is a challenging process to say the least and having Carmine in charge has made all the difference. He is a true gem and we consider ourselves lucky to have found him.
Mastercraft has had to gut all the work that was previously done and start from scratch. We decided that the work would be performed in two phases. The first phase has been completed and I am very satisfied with the work that has been performed. I would recommend this company to anyone. The work men and especially Carmine are a pleasure to work with.
Therefore in November 2010 we asked Carmine to provide us with an estimate for the master bathroom renovation. Carmine impressed us again with his thoroughness: he studied the plans with great care, realized that some sizes did not add up and had an associate check all measurements from the plans. He found the mistake and therefore the plan was corrected. We decided to hire Carmine for the master bathroom project. At the time he was working on a whole house remodeling project, but he expected to finish it in 1-2 months. However the home owner kept adding new items to the scope of that project and Carmine was not available to start our project until June 2011. (During that time we kept in touch and, though we were disappointed about the delay, Carmine made sure that we understood that when he started a job he finished it to the home owner satisfaction, no matter how long it took.)
Before the work started Carmine met with us to discuss & nail down all details; e.g. when he heard that waterproofing was a major concern he proposed solutions and their additional price. The work on our master bathroom project was an example of how a perfect home renovation project should be run. Carmine took care of every detail (from materials to the sub schedules to days he spent setting the ceramic tiles veins patterns to make it look like marble). He checked with us before making any decision and made cut-outs from cardboard to help us visualize the result.
The bathroom came out beautiful and it made us trust Carmine with more work we wanted done: we decided to remodel all house interior. We also wanted some repairs done to the exterior, which turned into a whole house siding and painting job. The project was completed in early March 2012. During this time Carmine was as thorough as in the first day and he did not consider any minor detail as less important than major work items. He juggled jobs based on craftsmen schedules, such that the project went on at all times. His main concern was for us to be happy with the results and he worked with us to insure that.
We were so happy with the result that we already discussed our next project, the kitchen renovation, in the near future.
"Thank you so much for your generous review of our service , so kindly placed here on Angies List for all to see. I was glad to help you with what actually turned out to be a small and simple repair, and thereby avoid the cost of a total replacement. Similarly, the main entry door needed only a little sanding on the upper edge and not a complete replacement. I'm always glad to help whenever possible, and I really appreciate your offer to refer us to the new homeowner and to your local family and friends. I wish you good luck with your sale, and I thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedule to put your kind words about your experience with us right here on Angies List. Sincerely, Carmine at Mastercraft"
"Thank you very much for taking the time, while still settling into your new home, to write such a detailed review of our services. It was my pleasure to work for you, and we look forward to assisting you in the future. I appreciate , and honor the trust you've placed in me and in my men, as we are always courteous , respectful and very professional. Over our decades of experience in this business, we have provided many homeowners with the same timely, "move-in" services that are often needed. These range from Electrical and Plumbing repairs (or upgrades) ......to our Clean-up Services....... Painting as much as you'd like ....from just a single room or two (…as in this visit…), to the entire house! ........Wood Floor Installations and Floor Refinishing......to the full range of Expert Carpentry Services, including new doors and hardware, new windows, crown moldings, chair rails, built-in closets and a variety of needed repairs. For more complex work we have a Jobsite Journal System which keeps track of all homeowners requests, any needed and ordered materials, and our expected Schedule to Completion. This gives the homeowner a written, daily account of all the expected jobsite actions, and a review of the day's progress. We also communicate by phone and update by email to be sure that communication is thorough and current. I'm glad that this system was able to save you time ...several 1 hour plus drives to and from your former residence. We were also glad to be able to save you some money ...more than $1500 ....with an honest assessment of your front door. Where you originally considered replacing it, we determined that it only needed to be re-secured, adjusted and be simply refurbished. We were also able to address a minor electric issue at no charge. As you mentioned in your review, you and I had only met face to face on our last day at your house. I really appreciate your trust in the Mastercraft team, and I'm very grateful to have your review . We stand ready to serve you again as you need us. As many of our clients know, we give special attention (and special pricing) , to all of our repeat customers. So please keep our number handy 516 292-8706 for when you’re ready to consider that new kitchen or bath. Thank you again, and good luck in your new home. ~ Carmine at Mastercraft"
