Tom's crew - John and Cameron did an excellent job. They were professional, caring, cautious, courteous and did an excellent job of clean up. They even worked through a big rain storm. Tom was excellent to work with. I would recommend them implicitly.

We were very impressed with the level of prompt and courteous service. This was a tough job, requiring a large crane to remove tall trees in our back yard. Tom made every effort to minimize lawn damage, and kept all equipment off the driveway. Clean-up was exceptional. If I ever need more tree services, I will go straight to Tom.

I met with Tom in May of 2011 because we wanted to reclaim our backyard from the huge red pines that had taken over and diminished the sunlight to only a couple of hours a day. Tom made some suggestions as to which trees would have the most impact and came back with a very reasonable price. Only one of trees was hardwood, the rest being pines. Tom was professional and very friendly and told me the work would commence in a couple of weeks. I needed to obtain permission from my neighbor to use their driveway to get a crane truck into our backyard which was not a problem as one of he trees was hanging over their property. About two weeks later Tom called and said his crew would be there the next day. They showed up about 8 AM and worked for about 5 plus hours to complete the job. The workers did a good job and cleaned up nicely after themselves. The whole experience was a good one and my only regret is I didn't have them grind the stumps.

I contacted Tom Mullan on Friday, 7/26 and requested an estimate. He said he would stop by on Friday or Saturday and take a look at the trees. Tom called me on Sunday, 7/28, with the estimate and said his crew could probably do the work on Monday, 7/29, or Tuesday, 7/30. Tom called me on Monday and gave me an approximate time his crew would arrive. I spoke with him a few more times that morning with requests that his crew leave a few slices of each of the maple trees at the request of my relatives.... a maple tree had been planted at the time each of my children were born and had sentimental value besides being beautiful trees enjoyed by birds, squirrels and chipmunks as well as humans for many years. My experience with Tom is that he is a very kind, considerate, understanding ,helpful, reasonable, patient man. I also informed him that I would not be able to pay him on Monday but would have the money on Tuesday or Wednesday. That was not a problem for Tom, he said he trusted me. Did I mention he is kind! His crew showed up. They did the "cutting down" work 1st. They came back later in the day and did the grinding work. They, too, are so kind as I was crying on and off through out the process. They would ask me how I was doing! They worked fast and thoroughly doing all I requested and cleaned up! My only concern was that did they did not wear eye protection.

WOW!! I feel that I have to be as speedy with a review as they were with my call. I contacted them at 8:30. Mr. Mullen was at my house at 10:00 and his crew was there at 1:00 that afternoon. Truly professionals as they set up and were done in one and a half hours. It wasn't a big job but goes to show you no matter how big or small they doit with ease. My yard was probably cleaner than when they started, so they pay attention to detail. A total pleasure doing business with them and will use again the need arises !!!

My home is in on a forested lot, surrounded by trees, most of them pines. I returned home from a trip to find that a very large (probably over 60') pine tree in my back yard had started leaning. After checking reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Tom Mullan, on Friday, June 29. He said he would come at about 10AM on Saturday, 6/30 to give me an estimate to remove the tree. He called on Saturday morning to say that he would be about an hour late. That was no problem. When he arrived, I showed him the leaning tree that was the cause for immediate concern, and also asked about felling and removing several other smaller dead pine trees at the same time. All together, there were about a dozen trees, and we agreed on a price of $1,600, which seemed reasonable given the scope of work.
Because of its location and size, Mr. Mullan seemed concerned about the logistics of getting crane equipment that he wanted to use to remove it, near the leaning tree. Also, because it was the weekend before July 4th, Mr. Mullan said he wasn't sure that he would be able to get his crew out until after the holiday. Because the tree was leaning over the yard rather than the house, I was OK with not having it removed immediately.
There was no more communication from Mr. Mullan and his crew did not come until nearly two weeks later, on Thursday, July 12, while no one was home. On that date they did not remove the leaning tree that was the greatest cause for concern, but rather cut down the other dead trees, leaving some that they had agreed to haul away in piles next to the driveway. Still not having had any further communication, I expected that they would return the next day to finish the job. They did not.
On Sunday, July 15, I came home from an overnight trip to find that the leaning tree had fallen across the back yard, landing uncomfortably close to the back deck. I called Mr. Mullan to let him know that the tree had fallen down, and to ask when he would be returning to finish the work. He was very vague about a date, saying that it would probably be several more days because of an issue with his equipment. In the course of the conversation, the clear impression that I got was that Mr. Mullan really didn't care about my concerns about the lack of communication or the length of time it took to have the job completed, and, bizarrely, he had absolutely no reaction to the fact that the tree that I had contracted him to take down was now lying across my back yard.
After several minutes of my expressing my dissatisfaction to Mr. Mullan, he said that his crew would return the following day to finish the work. The work was completed on Monday, July 16.
In the end, the work was completed, but not without much delay and cajoling. For two weeks, I was unable to use (or mow) the back yard or use the deck because of the danger posed by the leaning tree. For sheer lack of communication, and, apparently, caring, I cannot recommend this company.

What a pleasure to deal with a professional contractor that comes on site and performs to the "T" what was promised in the estimate. I found Tom Mullan Tree Service to be professional, fair, honest and truly concerned about the customers' satisfaction before leaving the work site. I give Tom and crew an A+.

I paid about $1000 for the job. He was there on time and he was friendly. He had a large enough crew and he was done within 7 hours of time.

We had a number of extremely tall pines in close proximity to the house as well as trees that had grown up and crowded in our pool area to the point where they blocked out the sun. By the time we were done marking the trees we wanted removed, we were up to forty. We took several bids and settled on Tom. He was very nice to deal with and the price he quoted ended up being the price. He even took out a couple of extra small trees for no additional charge. He not only was the low bidder but the best choice as I have heard countless stories from those who used others. He brought in the equipment he needed (the large crane, etc) and the crew was very professional and went about their work with gusto. The job did not take long. Note - if you're looking to save money and don't need the stumps ground down, you can.

I am fairly new to upstate NY and when I had a dead tree on my property I called Tom Mullan to remove. He immediately responded to my call and gave me a very reasonable quote. His crew was professional and wasted no time in doing the job right. I have since utilized this company a second time.
