MODERN AUTO TECHNOLOGY

I was on vacation in the Lake George area - and on the way in I had to hit the brakes hard when someone cut off my RV. The tow dolly that our car was on would lock up the brakes every time I stepped on it after that and we had to remove the car and drive it the remaining hour to our camp site. After calling several places to see who could repair the dolly, I was referred to Modern Auto Repair. It was about a 20 mile drive to the shop - and I shared that I didn't want to invest too much into the Dolly, as I have a trusted repair person back in Ohio, but that dolly needed to make it back the 11 hour return drive safely.
Jim was confident about their fix and ability to control the price. The estimate and repair were far less than I would have expected to pay back home, let alone in a ''Tourist Trapand quot; area like Lake George NY. $400 is a very reasonable repair price for replacing my surge brake with a brand new one, rewiring the entire trailer (I noticed the lights flickering when I went down the road - and apparently some mice had chewed wires) and replacing a broken grease zerk (bearing buddy). The trailer performed flawlessly on the return trip to Ohio. Thanks for a great experience!

We have used their services for around five years. They are amazing. He is always there when I need him, he is very accomodating and reasonable with pricing.

We think very highly of them. They do pretty good work and they're efficient and they're fair.

I called to make an appointment for 2 new tires, explaining that I could not leave the car. This was not a problem and I was scheduled for a 6:15am time slot. I arrived at 6:15am and Jim P. was waiting for me; he took the vehicle into the shop and I was back on the road by 6:45am with two new tires!! I was able to sit in their office and do my crossword puzzle while the work was being completed.

They are one of the best and I recommend them. They are very friendly and answer all your questions. They are competitively priced and it's worth the quality of job they do. I like their services and will use the same in future.

Having dropped off the car the night before, I called the shop to check progress of work and spoke with Jim, the ever-patient and most polite mechanic on the face of the earth. Jim reports that the oil has been changed and the heater issue is resolved with a new thermostat. He adds that Terry, the other mechanic, looked the car over and found the fuel filter is leaking and could use replacing, and the inspection is overdue by one month. He also reports that two of the tires are illegal and need to be replaced. Jim, always a diplomat, mentions that the other 2 tires will shortly be illegal(like only one month!) and he suggests we replace all four tires. Now you may be thinking that he's trying to milk us for all we're worth; but I know from many years of dealing with Modern Auto that Jim and Terry(the other most polite mechanic in the universe) always have safety and cost first in their mind. So, I said, with complete confidence "Sure, go ahead"; all the work was completed tires mounted and balanced. I have never been disappointed with their service or their advice. We were one of their first customers (invoice #26) years ago and we recommed them unreservedly to anyone in need of a competent, honest, reasonable, dependable, and polite mechanics- not to mention clean(the mats and steering wheel are clean when you pick up the car)!
