Steve (Doughetry Contracting) and his guys replaced every window in my house with new construction units. Half of them are casements and the others are double-hung. They are, in a word, stunning. In addition, the process was nearly painless, which is practically unheard of. His source of the windows was a terrific company, Empire Building Products. In the process of removing the old windows, Steve and his guys found two nasty infestations of carpenter ants. Having a working relationship with a good local extermination service, Steve had the problem eradicated the next day. Although the infestation was unforeseen and therefore not included in the time estimates, some significant sections of my house were simply repaired, rebuilt, and painted the day after the exterminator's visit. The whole job took five days. The $16,000 included my fantastic windows, the exterminator's services, the unexpected rebuilding, great clean up, good company, and excellent music from Steve's play list. These guys are superbly professional without any self-consciousness about it. They did very strenuous work, smiled and laughed a great deal, and left this customer most satisfied.
