We paid the contractor Mr. LeClair. He in turn contacted a NY energy specialist, who by the way is a sheet rock specialist. This gentlemen suggested that the problem is because the garage is not insulated. My thought is, why was this issue never addressed before any work started. Bottom line Mr LeClair took our money, and has not remedied the problem.
Description of Work: The garage (front of the house attached) was sheet-rocked, taped but never painted. The garage is not insulated. Shortly after the house was built, the tape started coming down. The sheet rock was in no way damaged i,e,, wet. This past Spring, I contracted with a local builder, he in turn 'hired' a sheet-rock 'specialist'. He removed the old tape, etc. He worked four days. During this time it rained everyday. When he left for the day he plugged in a small fan. When his job was completed, a month or so later, we primed and painted the entire garage. Not 2 months later the tape, on the ceiling started to pull away. We now have cracks the entire length of the tape, just a matter of time before it falls down. We notified the contractor he looked it over, and called in the sheet-rock 'expert'. Who disclaimed any fault of his own. A New York energy person enlisted, by the original contractor blames the problem on the lack of insulation! Other dry-wall contractors I've spoken to uniformly think - the 'mud' was put on too thick and did not dry evenly, given the damp raining weather it was a disaster in the making. I've lost over $700, still have a mess in the garage - and its' the old......."not my fault".
